Year book

This is a little bit of a cheat as I made this year book for a present last Christmas, and as we've been out to eat tonight I'm too full and too tired to sit at my craft table ! The covers were made from mount board and covered with Bazill card. I then stamped the leaves around the edge of the front cover piece of card from a set of Serendipity stamps, the sentiment is also from the same set.
All of the pages are made from one single sheet of Bazill card and then I decorated each page individually. I printed some cards with images from PC Crafter and bound it using my Bind it All. This was a gift for my sister's mother in law. I think it's the generation that still likes to send a 'thank you' note or a 'how are you' note, so this was the perfect gift for her.
Well we've made it through another week, not a sunny day in sight so it looks like I could be in my craft room tomorrow...yippee ! I've added some more Blog Candy from Sarita's blog to the side bar so take a look.
Thanks for looking.

Merci Beaucoup !

This card was inspired by an article in the latest Craft Stamper magazine that landed on the doormat today. Michelle Zindorf is the featured artist and you really do need to check out her blog, it's amazing. I started by brayering the background with Butterscotch Adirondack ink. I then cut out a circle with a punch and brayered over the top with Rust Adirondack ink. The flower is from a Tanda Stamps set called Summer Set 1 and the butterfly and leaves are from a K&Co set. They're all stamped in black Memento ink. The corners are cut out on my Cricut and a black brad added to the centre of the corner. The wording is a Serendipity stamp, I love all things French and so the latest Katzelkraft stamps are also on my list ( also featured in the latest Craft Stamper magazine). This was stamped in black Memento onto Basic Grey paper.

This card is for a lovely couple who cooked for us last Friday. It was a wonderful meal especially as all of the vegetables were home grown and freshly picked. Fantastic !

Wedding card

This is a card I've made for an order. I started it last night and then my mojo deserted me ! After a day thinking about it, when I sat down tonight inspiration struck ! The large hearts are from the Elusive Images set called Harlequin Rose. I've embossed them with silver EP and then mounted on foam pads. The background is white pearlescent card that I've printed on using a Pink Petticoats image. For the die cut swirls I printed the reverse colour from the Pink Petticoat image onto Basic Grey paper. It looks rather good as a whole sheet so this will be something I'm going to experiment with. The swirls are a Sizzix Sizzlet die, which doesn't seem to like cutting through card when I run it through my Cuttlebug but it cuts out thick paper a treat. I went round the swirls with a silver metallic pen.

Well that's me shattered, so off to bed now.

Paris anyone ??

This is another card I've made for my niece's birthday on Thursday, I shouldn't have to make any more now. The background is Adirondack inks in rust, stream and cranberry that have been sponged in a random fashion. I then stamped with black Stazon the swirls from the Basic Grey Two Scoops set onto acetate and fastened to the card with black brads. You can't really tell from the photo but it's given the inks a lovely sheen. The main image is a Clarity stamp, again stamped in black Stazon. The shoes were stamped onto acetate with Stazon ink and then coloured on the reverse with a Pro Marker. I then cut them out and punched a hole in the heel and threaded them and the small tag onto some tapestry thread. The black ribbon is a piece I rescued from a box at work, the crafter in me knew it would come in handy at some point !
I've had a lovely day today as I took this afternoon as holiday. After I'd nipped into town and done some food shopping, I played in my room for the rest of the afternoon. Wish I could do this every day !

Tanda Teaser ' Easy Elegance'

This is my card for the Tanda Teaser this week called 'Easy Elegance'. As soon as I read the title my mind starting to work overtime, I really wanted an image of a woman on a chaise longue, but I'd already got this image ( can't for the life of me remember where from!) and thought she fitted the bill. The lace is absolutely gorgeous and I had to be very brave to cut it ! I've stamped the card with a small stamp by Debbie Moore with Adirondack Sandal, I think you can just about see it on the photo. The sentiment is from a Paper Mania stamp set which I've stamped in Sepia Archival ink. Unfortunately, the word Happy has smudged a little so I'm not sure I can use it for an order I've had for a 70th birthday. I'll see how I feel about it in the morning. The burgundy card is Bazill and the gorgeous burgundy ribbon is from my friend Vic who very kindly gave me a whole bundle of ribbon, which I absolutely adore !

Well that's Monday over with, I managed to mow the lawn when I got home from work tonight. I quite enjoyed it actually, being able to get outside and the sun was out ! Woohoo !

Rose pink & Lime !

This is the card I've made for the Pro Marker challenge over on Passion for ProMarkers, which is to use rose pink and lime. This is also my card to enter the fabuous blog candy competition over at Charmed Crafts. (See the side image for a link as well.)
The two images are from Charmed Cards and Crafts which are downloads which I've shaded with the below Pro Markers:

Lime Green
Moss
Marsh Green
Pastel Pink
Blossom
Rose Pink
Sandstone
Cinammon
Burnt Sienna

I think the greens aren't quite right as I haven't got all of the shades......yet !

The background paper is Basic Grey on to which I've stamped a corner stamp in Caramel Adirondack ink and I've swiped Pesto Adirondack ink around the edge of the Boutique image. The pelmet is Bazill card which I've punched with a Fiskars edge punch. The sentiment is a Penny Black stamp, stamped in Pesto and then cut out with circle Nestabilites and mounted onto a scalloped Nestability.
This is another card that I've made in advance on my teenage niece's birthday this week. I don't think you can go wrong with a shopping image. I have to say the other images from Charmed Cards and Crafts are rather delicious so I will be experimenting with them over the next few weeks.

Well I know I said I wouldn't mention it but it hasn't stopped raining all day today, and my mum has told me this afternoon that the rest of the week is looking pretty awful. I suppose it's a perfect time to hide out in my craft room, as I'm obviously not going to be able to do any jobs outside.........shame !

Pink !!

My really good friend Vic has given me this award, which I feel really honoured to have. I would like to pass this award on to Sheila, Keryn and Sarita. Check out their blogs as they really are fab !
So I'm back with the problem of working with pink again ! I've been asked to make a card for a little girls 1st birthday so pink was the obvious choice ! The paper is Basic Grey and the pink card is Bazill card which I've put through the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder and punched with a Fiskars edge punch. The swirls are cut from Basic Grey paper with a Sizzlit die and the letters are cut using the Cuttlebug alphabet set Olivia. I've added a gem for a little sparkle and also some stickles on the number one.
Now you may be wondering what didn't dry in time for me to post this card last night. Well I had a chipboard number which I painted with H20's then covered with Glossy Accents. Unfortunately, when it dried it looked almost flourescent ! So it has been consigned to the bin !
We've had a really lovely day today as we've been out and about looking for canal junctions ! It may sound strange but my other half is in to photography and is looking for some shots to submit to some magazines. We managed to have lunch out, which was a bonus !
Thanks for looking.

Sorry folks !

The card I was hoping to post before we go out isn't dry so I will have to post it tomorrow. Best laid plans and all that !

Have a good evening.

Mojo Monday - 96

This is the sketch challenge for this week from Mojo Monday.......
......and this is my card ! This has doubled up as not only the card for Mojo Monday but also another card for my niece, as besides being into classical music, as you would expect, shoes are also high on the list ! These shoes are actually one shoe that is stamped twice by masking the first one by stamping it onto a Post It Note then sticking it over the top while the second shoe is stamped, the stamp itself is by Clarity Stamps. I then shaded them with Pro Markers and although you can't see it on the photo I've drawn a line with a white gel pen along the toe. It's been cut out with a circle Nestability then I've sponged ink around the edge and mounted onto a scalloped circle Nestability. The paper is Basic Grey and the background card is Bazill. The swirl is a Sizzix sizzlit and the sentiment is stamped in black Stazon. The charm is from a set I picked up from one of those cheap book shops.
Apologies for the photo of this card but I wanted to get it posted and the bow hadn't quite stuck so I couldn't stand it up. I always have problems attaching things like bows and normally resort to Glossy Accents, so if any one has any tips they would be gratefully received !

Music, music everywhere!

It's my youngest niece's birthday next week and she's heavily into music of the classical kind, along with all of the other things that teenagers are into ! The sheet music is the free download from the Craft Stamper site that I've mounted onto green Bazill card and used a ticket punch on the corners. The smaller tag is the Cuttlebug embossing folder, Allegro, used on white card and chalked with green chalk, again mounted onto green Bazill card. All of the papers are Basic Grey. The sentiment is one of my favourite stamps, I love any thing that is swirly ! It's made by Funstamps, I think I picked it up from Hobbycraft at some point in the past. It's been stamped with Cranberry Adirondack ink, then cut out with Large Labels Nestabilities and then Pesto and Cranberry ink sponged around the edge. The border punch is by Fiskars.

Another very wet day here, I've promised myself that after today I'm not going to talk about the weather as I'm getting bored with it so you definitely must be ! It has been very miserable though.....lol.....

Loads of flowers !

I came across this tutorial for a Gate fold or Tri fold card and thought I would give it a go. The large flower in the centre is stamped with black Stazon onto card that has been brayered with Adirondack - Caramel, Butterscotch and Cranberry. I then traced around the stamp itself as it was a perfect shape to cut out. The 'shabby' flowers are made from Mulberry paper which I've cut loads of using a Cuttlebug flowers die and then wet the edges so I could make the edges look 'tatty'. I then stuck a button in the centre and sewed some thread through. The ribbon is stuck with double sided tape across the back of the card and then the punched flowers were stuck to the front of the ribbon and some gems added to the centre. The corners are gold peels offs that I've coloured with an orange peel off pen. The small flowers at the edges of the front panels are from the same stamp set as the large flower, which is the Inkadinkado set by Brenda Walton.

The panel inside the card is another piece of card that has been brayered with the same Adirondack inks and then I've stamped the small flowers and the butterfly from the same set of stamps. The sentiment is from a Papermania set of stamps that I bought at the week end. I can tell they're going to be really useful !
I have to admit this card turned out alot better than I thought, I really love it when you start out with a vague idea and it takes shape as you go along.
Well today has to be the first day in over a week I've not got soaked either going to or coming from work. I am, unfortunately, reliably informed it's not going to last. Don't you just love British summers.

Mojo Monday - 95

This is the sketch for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge this week.........

......and this is the card that I made. The 2 images are both from the same set of Serendipity stamps which I've stamped in Rust Adirondack ink and then sponged some Butterscotch and Caramel Adirondack around the edges. Both are mounted onto Bazill card. The background paper is Basic Grey and the both the card and paper have been punched with a Fiskars edge punch ( which is my favourite at the moment !) The flowers are Papermania and a self adhesive pearl has been coloured with a brown peel off pen and stuck in the centre.
I wasn't sure about this card when I made it last night, hence I didn't post it, but when I've come back to it this morning I've decided that it will pass !
Well today has started off very wet again but I have to say that yesterday was better than I expected. Unfortunately, I didn't get out into the garden but I did have a lovely afternoon with a friend and fellow crafter, as we went to a local craft shop for some retail therapy ! Don't you just love those kind of afternoons !

Tanda Teaser ' There be Dragons'

This is my card for the Tanda Teaser this week called 'There be Dragons'. The challenge was to make a card along a fantasy theme, to include dragons if you had them. So I went straight for my set of Tanda Stamps set called Dragons and Fantasy Set 3. Perfect ! I made a gate fold card and then stamped the dragons on to some Basic Grey paper in Midnight Blue Stazon ink. I used a corner punch and then wound some silver thread around the paper.
The image inside the card was from the same set of stamps which I stamped onto some acetate and then coloured on the reverse side with Sakura Permapaque pens and some white Smooch. The card that this was mounted onto is silver mirror card that I've 'splodged' alcohol inks onto. The acetate is attached to the mirror card with 4 brads, and then mounted onto some more silver mirror card and then some more Basic Grey paper.

Here's a close up of the image inside the card, he doesn't show up as well as I would have liked. I really enjoyed making this card. I love any thing to do with magicians and fantasy stories and actually, the book I'm reading at the moment by Christopher Paolini is along that very theme.
Well it's not stopped raining since I've come in from work, and there's alot more on the way apparently. Certainly shan't be getting the BBQ out this week end that's for sure. The pond is still nicely topped up problem is the weeds are getting the upper hand so I might have to dodge the showers to do battle with them !

Good Luck Katie !

A lady at work is leaving this week to have a baby and as she already knows what 'flavour' it's going to be it made it easier to make. The only problem is, pink and me don't really mix ! I kept looking at the card after I'd made it and trying to think why I wasn't happy with it and then I realised.... it was the colour ! So, the main image is from a set of Joanna Sheen stamps which is stamped in black Memento ink and then shaded with Pro Markers. This is then cut out with Nestabilities and layered on to Basic Grey Paper and Bazill card. The paper and card on the base card is punched with a Martha Stewart edge punch. The sentiment was done on the PC and then cut out with a circle Nestability and then I went round the edge with a Pro Marker. The corner detail is peel off's that have been coloured with a peel off pen.

Glad I'm ahead of myself today as I feel absolutely shattered so I don't think I'll be surfing for too long tonight. At least I didn't get soaked on the way home from work tonight but apparently there's more rain on the way, no doubt it will arrive just in time for the week end ! ..lol..

Tanda Teaser 'Dance the Night Away'

This is my card for the Tanda Teaser this week called ' Dance the Night Away'. I inked the background with Adirondack inks - Butterscotch, Caramel and Cranberry. The corner stamp is from a Personal Impressions set and the words are from a My Sentiments Exactly set of stamps, all stamped in black Memento ink. The main image is from the Tanda Stamps set called Retro Women Set 3 and is the only image I could use, dancing people are hard to find ! I stamped it in black Memento ink then shaded the woman with Pro Markers. I then swiped around the edge with Butterscotch and Cranberry Adirondack inks and mounted it onto some Basic Grey paper. The pearls were coloured with an orange peel off pen. This card was really quick to do as I had the idea already in my head, normally it can take me literally hours !

Running late tonight as I wanted to tidy up downstairs before I disappeared into my craft room, and put some more stuff back in the kitchen which is starting to feel more like a kitchen every day. Just need to find some tiles I like now, so could be Christmas before it's done !

Thanks for looking.

Birthday girl

This is the card that I was going to use for the Pro Marker challenge this week, which was to use the colours Cocoa and Cornflower. Unfortunately, I've just realised that there was a sketch attached to the challenge which I didn't see until after I'd made the card. However, the colours did inspire me to make this card which I've used for a friend's sister's birthday card. The flowers were stamped with Memento black ink then they were shaded with the following colours; Pastel Blue, Blue Pearl, Cornflower, and China Blue. I stamped 3 onto the background card and then cut out three further flowers and layered them on top. The pearls are coloured with the Cornflower Pro Marker and stuck on the centre of the flowers. The bowl is a freehand drawn shape that has been shaded with Sandstone, Cinnamon and Cocoa. I then stamped over the top with a Personal Impressions stamp with black Memento ink. I edged the white card with the Cornflower Pro Marker and layered it onto the Basic Grey paper. The lace paper strip is made from a Fiskars edge punch; I cut a 3cm wide strip of white card and then edged both sides with the punch. The sentiment is made from black peel offs plus the word Sister, which was a silver peel off, I coloured with a black peel off pen.

Well the start of another week, and it's still raining and the forecast is not good either. I want to know where the 'barbecue summer' has gone !

Mojo Monday challenge

This is the sketch for this week's Mojo Monday challenge........

....... and this is my entry. The sentiment is a first for me as it's a rub on. I spotted them in Hobbycraft yesterday and thought I would give them a try. My experience with previous rub on's hasn't been good, but this has worked out OK. The white card has been inked around the edge with a mix of Brilliance yellow and Versamagic Mango Madness. Then I've added some faux stitching with a Tombo pen. All of the papers are Basic Grey and the flower has been punched using an EK Success punch with a smaller flower in the centre and a Blonde Moments button. The pearls are self adhesive which started their life as white and with a little help from my Peel Off Pens, have turned green !
Well I've had a lovely couple of days as I went down to the south coast to see my friend on Friday and stayed until yesterday afternoon. The weather was not very kind so we couldn't barbecue on the beach as we'd planned, but it was still lovely to see her and the family.
As it's still early I think I shall carry on playing, as it's amazing what 'jumps' into your hand when you go to Hobbycraft !

Congratulations Vic !

This card is for my friend Vic who gave birth to a little boy yesterday ! Vic is also a fellow blogger but I'm pretty sure she will have her hands full at the moment so won't be looking online ! The main image is from a set of Joanna Sheen stamps which I've stamped in black Memento ink and then shaded with Pro-markers. I've then cut it out with a square Nestability and shaded the edge with Pastel Blue Pro-marker. This is then mounted onto Bazill card which has been cut out using the scalloped square Nestability. Apologies I don't know who the background paper is from, the pearl hearts are from the free set I had with a magazine.

I don't know where this week has gone, I can't believe it's Friday tomorrow ! I am, however quite looking forward to tomorrow as I have the day off work and I'm going to drive down to the south coast to visit my best friend and see my God daughter. Fingers crossed with the weather as we're going to have a barbecue on the beach !

Happy Birthday Libby !

This card is for my god daughter's Birthday next week, and as I'm going to see her this week end I wanted to take it with me as they live approximately 3 hours drive away. The main image is Gorjuss Sitting, a Sugar Nellie stamp. I've stamped her in Memento ink and then shaded her with Promarkers adding a little white gel pen down the centre of her legs, which I'm quite pleased with the effect. I've cut her out with the largest circle Nestability and then cut out a larger circle on my Cricut to layer her on to, swiping round the main image circle before sticking it together with Versamagic Eggplant ink. The edge punch is a Martha Stewart and the Happy Birthday stamp is by Clarity Stamps. I smudged the sentiment slightly so I've edged part of the letters with the finest Faber Castell artist pen. Think I've got away with it! The pearl hearts were a free gift with a magazine at some time in the past.

I can't believe the amount of rain we've had today, it's filled the pond up a treat ! I'm so glad that it didn't rain at the weekend as we had a skip to fill with the old kitchen. I really wouldn't have fancied doing it in the downpour we've had today. My really good friend Vic goes into hospital tomorrow to have her baby, so I shall be waiting on tenter hooks to hear the news. Watch out for a baby card in the near future, I'm just waiting to find out what flavour it's going to be !

Thanks for looking

Missed Mojo Monday !

I started this card yesterday and was going to use it for last week's Mojo Monday challenge. Unfortunately, Mr Federer and Mr Roddick didn't oblige and finish their match in time for me to finish the card before my Mum came round for tea ! Hence ....Missed Mojo Monday !
The text is a stamp from a Rubbadubbadoo set I bought absolutely ages ago. I love the set and use it often and these words always make me think. So, the text was stamped with Olive Green Stazon and then I chalked and inked around the edge of the card. This was then mounted onto Bazill card and then onto Basic Grey paper. I cut around the edge with a pair of Decoredge scissors and then everything was mounted onto more Basic Grey paper. I had to take a deep breath before I cut the large piece out as I really love it and didn't want to use it yet, but it fitted the bill too well! The flowers are by Papermania and I put the brown ones through my Cuttlebug in the Swiss Dots folder and I dabbed some Adirondack Lettuce over the green flower so it didn't look so bright. The centre is a brad that I decided to add after I'd stuck everything down so I had to snip out the back tabs and stick it down with Glossy Accents !

Well hasn't the weather changed, I keep getting caught out without an umbrella and so keep getting soaked. Think I'll just have another half hour blog hopping before I call it a night.

Thanks for looking.

Tanda Teaser 'Iconic Image'

This is my card for the Tanda Teaser this week which was, to be inspired to make a card by an iconic image. I bought this stamp at a local craft shop from their bargain basket and thought that it would fit the bill. It's the first time I've used it and even though I say so myself, I'm really pleased with the way the card has turned out. First of all I 'splodged' lots of different reds and oranges from my H2O's onto a sheet of plastic from an old Cricut mat then 'swooshed' some white card over it. Then I 'splodged' some more H2O's onto the plastic this time in dark purple colours. I then dabbed the card onto the paint this time and the result was gorgeous ! When the paint was dry I stamped the image with black Stazon and then to highlight it I used some neat bleach on a paint brush. The papers are from my wonderful box of Basic Grey papers and the embellishments are a Sizzix Sizzlit die called Scribbles Swirls which I've cut out of Basic Grey paper and then run a gold metallic ink pen around the edge and stuck on some gold gems with glossy Accents. The photo doesn't really do it justice as I've had trouble getting the true colours to show up but I think you'll get the idea.

The reason I'm posting earlier today is that I decided to take this afternoon off from work. So I left the office at 12PM, arrive home at 1PM had a quick lunch, put the tennis on in the background and headed for my craft room. What a lovely afternoon I've had ! Hence the more elaborate card too :-) Pity I can't do this every day !

Sugar Nellie Fragile Beauty

Well I've braved my craft room again this evening, it's still verging on the unbearable so I shall be vacating it very shortly ! The main image on this card is, as the title, Sugar Nellie - Fragile Beauty. I stamped her in black Memento ink and then shaded her with Pro Markers. The corners are punched with my new purchase which arrived today. I've wanted one of these punches for as long as I can remember and then my friend Vic spotted it on the internet, so I made the purchase but it would have been rude just to have bought this one punch so I also bought the Fiskars edge punch which I 've used on this card too. The ribbon just happened to jump into the basket as well....lol....I made the background using a free stencil from the Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine which I used my Versamark pen and then my pearlescent chalks. I rather like the fuzzy effect that you get.
We had a barbecue tonight and as always I bought way too much, fortunately we had the sense not to cook it all so there's plenty left for tomorrow. Just hope the weather doesn't break before we get chance to have another BBQ and eat it !

Mega Blog Candy !

While doing some blog hopping last night I came across this mega blog candy ! I've loaded all of the images as I think you need to see everything that's included. Wow! Check out the blog over at Creative Antics. The deadline to be 'in it to win it' is midnight 7 July.

Monochrome Dragon Fly

The colour of this ribbon inspired me to do a monochrome card tonight. The main image is the free stamp that arrived today on the front of the August Craft Stamper magazine. I'd already cut the card I stamped it onto a few days ago but couldn't decide what to do with it. I saw the idea a couple of weeks ago but can't remember where but while doing a bit of a blog hopping tonight I found this tutorial on istamp blog. I've not had time to work out how to layer it but it is on my list of things to do. The swirls are made from the Sizzlit Scribbles die which I've cut two and then placed them behind the bottom layer of card. The sentiment I am really proud of as it's the first time I've used my Doodlebug rub ons ! I've then cut it out with the smallest Nestability Labels One and stamped the swirl in Slate Adirondack ink beneath it.
I wanted to do some more detail on this card but to be honest if I don't get out of my craft room pretty soon there will be a mushy mess on the floor where I should be sitting as I will have melted ! I know we shouldn't moan, but if I was by a pool in the South of France I wouldn't be! Off for a cool drink now and a bit of TV.
Thanks for looking.
