The Stamp Man Blog Hop and Challenge !!

Welcome to the 2nd annual blog hop awards event with The Stamp Man ! The hop starts at The Stamp Man challenge blog so if you've come via a different route you'll need to hop over there. If you started in the right place, you should have just come from Debbie's fabulous blog. To be in with a chance of winning a fabulous prize this is what you need to do :

  • Share your favourite/best project and link it with Inlinkz on The Stamp Man blog
  • Follow the hop and collect the letters from each blog. You will then need to work out what the letters spell.
  • Leave a comment on ALL the blogs you visit in the blog hop.
  • Post our event blinkie onto your blogs or a post about the event with your best/favourite project.
  • Take your award blinkie with pride (you'll find it on my sidebar)
  • Email your answer to - thestampman@btconnect.com by 9PM (GMT) on Thursday 13th January 2011. Please put bloghop answer as the title.
So without further ado, I'd like to share what I think is my best project for 2010.

I made this card for my niece's birthday in November for my sister to give to her. The colours don't show up as well as IRL but I was really pleased with the end product.

I've used Aspect of Design stamps, labels 14 Nesties, Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Sizzix die and Distress inks.

The letter that you need to add to your collection from me is 'E'. The next place on your journey is Lisa's blog where you'll find another letter to collect.

I look forward to seeing your best/favourite projects from 2010 and good luck !

Happy New year !

Yes, I know I'm early, but I wanted to share the cards I made this afternoon for my family. I started making New Year cards 3 years ago when I bought a wonderful stamp set by Katzelkraft. My family love visiting France and so these stamps have a little extra meaning for them.

I've stamped the sentiment with black Stazon then used Tumbled Glass and Broken China DI around the edge. The background is made using a stencil and Tumbled Glass DI.

The flowers and leaves are Tim Holtz Sizzix dies, Tattered Flowers and Tattered Leaves. I've used a Versamark pen around the edges and then sprinkled Ranger Embossing Tinsel - Snowflake over them and heat embossed it.

I hope you're all having a lovely Christmas break and if you are back at work already I hope it's not too painful ! The fog has stayed with us again today and it looks like it will for the rest of the week, but at least it's not snowing and it's not as cold !

K is for ....Keep it simple !

Well this must be the hardest card I've ever made ! The challenge this time round over on ABC Challenges is 'K' is for keep it simple. The sponsor for the challenge is Secret Crafter.

I've decided that simple and me don't mix ! This was my third attempt at keeping it simple and as time and my patience was running out, I kept it. I don't know what it is about large expanses of white card, but it just feels wrong to me ! Any way, I started by stamping the letters with Midnight Blue Stazon, I mounted them on to white card and cut it out with Labels 16 Nestabilities and used some more Stazon to sponge around the edge before removing the die.

I've mounted it onto a scrap piece of navy Bazill card and added some self adhesive pearls. The swirl is from a Hot off The Press stamp set, and I've stamped that with Stazon ink too.

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge, and I hope you find it easier than I did !

Passion for ProMarkers Mega Christmas Challenge

The challenge over on Passion for ProMarkers started a couple of weeks ago and will last until 4 January, but to give you all a little more inspiration Team 2 have put together some more projects. Our theme for the Mega Christmas challenge is a nice easy one “anything goes”, just remember to use your promarkers or aqua markers to be eligible for our prizes. Don’t forget you can enter as many times as you like and combine with any other challenges.

I made this card for my best friend's little boy earlier this month. The image is one of Mo Manning's fab collection and he is shaded with ProMarkers. I cut him out using Labels 17 Nestabilities and blended some Faded Denim DI around the edge.

The stars started life as a flower punched with a Stampin' Up punch, and I've cut the edges off the petals to make it into a star then blended some more Faded Denim DI around the edge of them. The paper is Making Memories and the ribbon is from my stash. The tag is cut using a Quickutz die and the buttons are from my stash.

So now for the exciting bit – the prizes!

Happy Birthday Sis !

Happy Birthday Vonnie !

I've made this card for my eldest sister, and as it's her birthday today I'm safe posting it now ! I've really enjoyed making this card as I've used loads of ink and all of the backgrounds are made with stamps, no paper involved ! The most gorgeous image is one of Mo Mannings and when I spotted it I knew it was a must have. It's been shaded with ProMarkers then I've blended some Tea Dye and Vintage Photo DI around the edge. The background piece is made using a set of Serendipity stamps, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo DI. There is one small piece of paper which is a torn page from an old book. I've given it the DI treatment to age it. The wonderful swirl is made using a Tim Holtz die and I've rubbed Vintage Photo DI over that too ! The flower is cut from the page of an old book using the Tattered Flowers Tim Holtz die, and I've rubbed more DI over it. The centre flower is also a Tim Holtz embellisment from the idea-ology range. The metal corner embellisments are from my stash and I've used Espresso Alcohol ink to make them look tarnished.

The book stamp is also from the same Serendipity set of stamps and I've cut around it and mounted it onto brown card then onto foam pads.

I wanted to show the above photo as the base piece of card was made using Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain DI then I used the most fabulous background stamp by Stampin' Up called Sanded. It gives the paper the most wonderful scratched look and I fell in love with it immediately !

The problem with getting carried away with making my cards is that they won't fit into an envelope ! So I've discovered that I need to make a box more often than not. I've used the same DI on the card then stamped the images from the Serendipity set and added the ribbon.

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges :

I hope you're all ready for Christmas and managing to keep warm in this very cold weather that's come back to cause chaos !

The Stamp Man Challenge

It's time for another challenge over on The Stamp Man, and this time we would like to see a tag, but the theme is entirely up to you !

I decided to stick with Christmas for this one, I have to say once I'm in the 'zone' I find it hard to stop myself making Christmas projects ! Any way for my tag I started by using Tumbled Glass DI and the Tim Holtz mini mask called Regal. I then stamped around the edge with a stamp from the Mini Holidays Tim Holtz set with Broken China DI.

The centre stamp is also from the Mini Holidays Tim Holtz set and I've stamped with Broken China DI, in hind sight I wish I'd have used a slightly darker ink so that the detail of the stamp stood out more as it is such a beautiful stamp.

Well it looks like the cold weather has come back to haunt us again, I just hope it holds off long enough until we break up for Christmas so it doesn't matter if it snows then !

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge.

ABC Challenge ...... J is for ....

It's time for the next challenge over at The ABC Challenge and this time it is 'J' is for jewels and gems. So get out your bling and join in the fun ! The sponsor for this challenge is Simon Says Stamp.

I was having another blue moment when I made this card, mainly because I wanted to use the lovely Basic Grey paper I have. The main image is a Stampin' Up stamp from the Lovely as a Tree set, stamped in Faded Denim DI. I've mounted it onto some white card that I've stamped the pine cone around the edge from the same set of stamps. The sentiment is from a Papermania stamp, I've masked off the rest of the words so I could just use this one bit.

I've paper pierced around the white card and the paper. For the eagle eyed you'll see that I've added some Stickles to the trees after I took the first photo, and also it's still wet !

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge.

Take 3 Christmas colours .....

It's time for a new challenge over at The Stamp Man and this time we would like to see cards using 3 Christmas colours.

This is another A5 card that I've made for an order. I have to say I'm not that keen on making cards this big, I don't know why, it just doesn't feel right ! Anyway, I started with a piece of white cardstock and then blended Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint DI over it. I used a piece of torn paper to mask off the card and make some hills across it. The trees are from the Tim Holtz Reindeer Flight stamp set. The reindeer is from the same set and has been embossed with gold EP. I've cut it out then mounted it onto red card and cut that out too. The sentiment is also embossed with gold EP, the stamp is from Tim Holtz's Mini Holidays stamp set. I've used an oval deckle edged Nestability to cut it out and lightly sponged some DI around the edge.

The border is Tim Holtz Sizzix Die called Scrollwork, I love this die ! I've just added some nail heads for a little more interest.

Well the snow is still lingering, I do love to see it though, I know the chaos it causes but it just feels really magical to me ! (I'd better stop now before I burst into song! ....lol.....)

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge.

This is a first !

This is a first for me as this is an ATC ! It's time for the ATC swap over on the The Stamp Man ATC swap blog. The challenge for this swap is 'Tis the Season.

So after I'd worked out how big I should be making this ATC! I started by blending Broken China and Chipped Sapphire DI over the card and then I stamped the snowflake from the Tim Holtz Mini Holidays stamp set. The calendar is also from the same set of stamps.

The frame is made from Labels 16 Nestabilities and I've blended Broken China and Chipped Sapphire DI over it. I've stamped one of the snowflakes again and cut it out and attached it with an eyelet.

I hope you get chance to join in the ATC swap this month.

On a roll !

This is another card for my niece, and as she's mad on horses this Serendipity stamp just fits the bill ! I've stamped it with Stazon black ink and then used a Mahogany Aquamarker. I've also used a water colour pencil to add a little texture. I've cut it out with a deckle edged oval Nestability and used Walnut stain and Vintage Photo DI around the edge. The background is made using Tea Dye and Vintage Photo DI and then I've stamped the dots using a Stampin' Up background stamp. I then scored lines down the card, and rubbed some Vintage Photo DI over the embossed lines.

The rosette started off as a trial but it worked out rather well (if I do say so myself!) so I decided to keep it. The top circles are made using Nestabilities and the letter is from Olivia Alphabet.

How cold has it been today !!! Definitely a day for staying indoors and staying cosy, perfect for a spot of crafting !

And here's another one !

Here's another card that I've made for my niece's birthday..... 2 down 2 to go ! The main images are from a stamp set I picked up from a new craft shop that's opened in our local garden centre. How handy is that ! I've shaded them with ProMarkers and cut them out with an oval deckle edged Nestability. I've used Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord DI around the edge. The purple background is made with the same DI and then I've stamped an Elusive Images backgound stamp with Dusty Concord. The lace is made with a stamp that I've had for ages and this is the first time I've used it. I've stamped with black Archival onto tissue paper and used the reverse side so it was a little more faded.

The flower is made with Mulberry paper and black tissue paper using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die. I've wet the edges of the Mulberry paper and gently teased away some of the fibres. The centre brad is one of my last Marah Johnson one's ( if any one knows where I can get some more I'd love to hear from you! ) The background paper is Papermania and the sentiment is from an Aspects of Design stamp set. The border punch is a Martha Stewart.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges :

Well it's been very cold here today and I was surprised to see snow when I opened the curtains this morning. I managed to get off our estate without any problems, let's just hope it's that easy tomorrow !

Hope you're all keeping warm !

Sssshhhhh.......

This is a card I've made for one of my niece's, I am reasonably confident that she won't look ...fingers crossed ! The main image is a Clarity stamp and I've used the masking technique so that the shoes look like a pair. I stamped them with black Archival ink then clear embossed them and then shaded them with my Sangria Aquamarker. I've used Labels 4 Nestabilities and I've rubbed a little Vintage Photo DI around the edge and used a ProMarker to ground them. The Suchard stamp is one of my new purchases and I absolutley love it, so you could be seeing alot of it ! Almost forgot to mention it's one of Tim Holtz's gorgeous stamps. I've distressed it and then used Vintage Photo and Tea Dye DI. The embossed panel is made using the Cuttlebug Victoria EF and I've rubbed Walnut Stain DI over it.

The paper is from my Basic Grey stash, I haven't used any of my BG papers in a while and flicking through them I think I need to change that ! The sentiment was stamped with black Stazon and then cut out with a Quickutz die and I've rubbed Vintage Photo DI around the edge. The buttons are from my stash.

I'm entering this card into the below challenges :

Well I hope you all stay warm and safe over the week end, having the seen the news tonight it looks like we're all in for a cold and snowy few days. Definitely going to make use of my hot water bottle !

ABC Challenge ... I is for .....

So where did the last 2 weeks go ! I can't believe how fast the time is going now ! So onto this weeks ABC challenge which is I is for Ice and Snow and we are sponsored by Wags and Whiskers. Just one thing to remember don't combine your entry with more than 4 other challenges or you won't be entered into the draw.

I've made this card for an order, it's actually an A5 size which I don't make many of so that in itself was a challenge ! I started by inking some white card with Chipped Sapphire DI and then stamped with the snowflakes from a Tim Holtz stamp set. The sentiment is embossed with white EP onto glossy cardstock then I've blended Chipped Sapphire DI over it. Then I cut it out using Labels 13 Nestability.

The skiing couple are from a Stampin' Up stamp set which I've stamped with Chipped Sapphire DI, cut out with a Nestie and the some more DI rubbed around the edge. The horizontal stamp is by Tandastamps and has been stamped onto glossy cardstock and DI blended over it. The snowflakes are a Martha Stewart and I've added a small pearl to the centre.

Hope you get chance to join us.

For my card I've used a brand new digi image from Mo Manning and to be honest just about everything else is old ! The paper is Pink Petticoat, and the border punch is a Marthat Stewart. I've shaded the image with ProMarkers and cut her out with a circle Nestability.

The little charm was part of a gift from a friend and the letters have all been cut out using my trusty Oliva alphabet die set. The Happy Birthday is a

Clarity stamp that I've had for ages.

As you’ve read on the challenge blog the desi

gn team are also offering some candy of their own, so please leave me a comment on this post and a winner will be randomly drawn for a promarker prize courtesy of Letraset.

You also have a “mystery word” to find and my contribution is the letter “E”. Make a note of my letter and then proceed to Tracy for the next part of the hop. If you get lost on the hop at all just return to the challenge blog for full directions.

Can't see for looking !

Have you ever had one of those moments when you've used something ( in this case an ink pad) and then it just disappears into thin air! After turning my craft room upside down, throwing a few things across the room and coming to a decision that it had definitely disapeared...I found it !

I've made this card for my sister to give to her eldest daughter for her birthday on Tuesday of this week. The main image is one of my favourtite's at the moment and it's from an Aspects of Design stamp set, which is stamped with black Archival ink and then I've used Dusty Concord DI around the edge. I've mounted it onto a piece of card that I've stamped the En Francais text stamp by Stampin' Up at a jaunty angle and then cut it out using Labels 14 Nestability and used Chipped Sapphire DI around the edge. The border has been made using a Tim Holtz edge die and I've used some more Dusty Concord DI around the edge.

The background was made using Dusty Concord DI too and I've stamped with the same ink using the butterfly stamp from another Aspects of Design stamp set, the word is from an Elusive Images set. The flower is made using Tattered Flowers Tim Holtz Sizzix die and grunge paper. I've used Chipped Sapphire and Dusty Concord to colour the paper and the centre is from the Tim Holtz foliage ideaology set. I've done some zig zag stitching over two of the corners and added some nail heads too, it's all mounted onto some Papermania paper.

I'm entering this card into the below challenges :

Hope you've all had a good week end.

First Challenge for The Stamp Man !

This is my first DT card for The Stamp Man, which I am very excited about joining ! This challenge is all about 'Tim' at Christmas and we would like to see Christmas cards using Tim Holtz products and if you're short of the odd thing or two, make sure you check out the fab selection at The Stamp Man.

For my card I used this gorgeous image from the Tim Holtz Santa's Wish stamp set. The main image has been stamped with Timber Brown Stazon and I've used a little Fired Brick DI to paint the holly berries. I've cut the image out using Labels One Nestabilities and then used Frayed Burlap DI around the edge. The side panel has been made using the holly stamp from the same set again using Timber Brown Stazon and stamping twice before re-inking to give a two tone look.

The background piece is made using Frayed Burlap DI but I've then gone round the edge with Vintage Photo DI to add a little definition. I've paper pierced the corners and found this oddment of ribbon in my stash (which I had to iron before I could use it !)

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge.

Passion for ProMarkers Challenge

It's time for another challenge over on Passion for ProMarkers and this time it was my turn to set the challenge. So this week we would like to see some distressing and some stitching ( real or faux). The sponsor for this challenge is Stampeezee and the prize is a £10 voucher.

This card was actually made for an order but I tied it into the challenge as well. The image is a Whipper Snapper stamp, stamped with black Stazon and then shaded with Aquamarkers. I've then used Labels 8 Nestabilites to cut it out and blended Broken China DI around the edge.

I made the background by blending more Broken China DI over some white card stock and I then found the small flower stamp ( I think it was freebie from somewhere!) and stamped it with the same ink.

All of the words and numbers were done on the PC and I used a Quickutz die to make the tag. The border punch is a Martha Stewart and I've added some twine to attach the tag. I've distressed the background and then zipped around the edge with my sewing machine.

I hope you get chance to join us this week.
