No Distress Inks !!

Can you believe it I've not used any Distress Inks ! So, this is my card for the following challenges :

This photo is slightly better, but when I'm home again I shall take them again and replace them. The main image is an Ollyfant stamp as is the umbrella. Both have been stamped with black Memento ink and then shaded mainly with Baby Pink and Tulip Yellow Pro Markers. The girl was cut out with a rectangle Nestability and then mounted on pink and black card. The paper is My Minds Eye and I've done some Faux Stitching down either side. The background card has been embossed using the Victoria embossing folder. The word 'Mum' has been stamped with my Habico alphabet stamps in black Stazon. The umbrella has been cut out and mounted on foam pads.

The flowers are cut using my Sizzix Bigz die and a punched flower added to the centre. The pearls have been coloured using Pro Markers.

Well today has been the most horrid wet and grey day ! The rain has been horizontal all day. We did venture out for a couple of hours but gave up and came back to the cottage and lit the fire. This is sounding all too reminiscent of our holiday in the Lakes !

Winter Wonderland sketch

First of all apologies for the photo, but I'm on a different PC at the moment and I don't have the same programmes as I normally use, so it's still looking a little yellow !

This is my card for the Winter Wonderland sketch challenge this week. The main image is from an Inkadinkado stamp set and has been stamped with black Stazon and cut out with Deckle edged Nestabilities. I've sponged some Antique Linen and Scattered Straw Distress Inks around the edge before removing the die. The horizontal piece of card has been put through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

The bell shaped flowers have been cut out using a Sizzix Bigz die and the pearls have been coloured with a black Pro Marker. The corner shapes are the bits left over from a Martha Stewart deep border punch. I'm not sure I liked them in the end but it was too late to pull them off !

The reason I'm on a different PC tonight is that we're in a cottage in Norfolk, close to Kings Lynn. We booked it quite some time ago and I can't believe it's come round so quickly. The weather, I have to say, is blummin' awful ! BUT I am sitting in front of an open fire with a chilled glass of wine so it's not all bad !

Monochrome friends !

I managed to sneak a quick hour in my craft room tonight, and I need to post this quickly as my eyes are closing as I type !

This card is for the following challengess :

The main image is a Crafty Individuals stamp which I've cut out with my Deckle Edged Nesties. The embossed card is a Quickutz embossing folder and I've rubbed some Moonlight White Brilliance ink over the top.

The back ground stamp has been stamped with black Archival ink and I purposely didn't ink it too much. The edge punch is a Martha Stewart.

This is another simple card as time is against me at the moment, but I was quite pleased with the end result. Right time for some shut eye !

Quickest card ever !

This has to be the fastest card I've ever made ! I've not got a lot of time at the moment for crafting as my Mum isn't well and I'm spending alot of time with her. So I've just got time to post this card then I'm going back to spend the night with her. So, this is my card for the Tanda Teaser challenge which is Riots of Petals (use flowers on your card). I printed the word Mum on my PC and then cut it out with a Fancy Tag. Before I removed the die I sponged Distress inks in Antique Linen, Scattered Straw and Dried Marigold over it. The paper is MME and I've used a Woodware corner punch. The yellow Bazill card has been put through my Cuttlebug using the Victoria embossing folder.

The flower is cut using my Sizzix Bigz die and the heart shaped button is from my stash and I've threaded some linen thread through the centre.
Apologies for the quick card and post, but I'm hoping that normal service will resume soon !

Spring Rose

This is my card for the following challenges :

I was really pleased when I looked at the challenge over on Stampin' for the Weekend as I was chosen as one of their top 3 again for the previous challenge! So onto today's card, the background papers are from the Bloom 'n' Grow set by My Minds Eye. The horizontal piece is a stamp from the Elusive Images set called Harlequin rose. I've stamped it with Versamark then rubbed chalk over the top. The main image is also from this set of stamps and I've stamped it with black Memento ink and shaded with Pro Markers. I've use Labels 6 Nestabilities to cut the image out and I did resist from sponging Distress inks around the edge !

The paper lace is made with a Fiskars edge punch and I have sponged some Shabby Shutters over this ( I couldn't stop myself ! ) The word is made from peel off letters that I've coloured with a Pro Marker as well as the pearls. The swirl is a Sizzix Bigz die, which I really love !
We couldn't believe our eyes this morning when we opened the curtains, there was at least 2 inches of snow ! Magically, it's all pretty much dissappeared now but from what I can gather there's more on it's way. Looks like we'll all be in for an interesting week !

Say it with Sepia !

This is my card for the following challenges :

The background paper is Basic Grey and I've sponged Distress inks Antique Linen, Scattered Straw and Tea Dye aorund the edge and then went over the top with Archival Sepia ink. The swirl is my favourite stamp at the moment, which is why it seems to feature on everything I do ! It's by Crafty Individuals and I've stamped it with Archival Sepia ink. I've also sponged Sepia ink over the lace as it looked too clean ! I mounted the lace onto some brown Bazill card and I cut the top and bottom edges with some deckle scissors. The main image is from a Tanda Stamps set and I've shaded it with Pro Markers and cut it out with Labels Six Nestabilities. Before removing the die I've sponged more Distress ink and Sepia ink around the edge.

The new technique I've tried is a wax resist technique. I saw over on Yours Artfully blog that Rachel Grieg from Darkroom Door had been demonstrating her crayon resist technique and I wondered if I could do something similar with a candle. Well I tried it and I think it's worked rather well ! I rubbed the candle over the words, which I printed out on my PC, then wiped Antique Linen and Sepia ink over the top. I used a baby wipe to clean some of the ink from the top of the wax. I wiped Vintage Photo around the edge and coloured the pearls with a Pro Marker.
We woke up to more snow this morning, which caused my hair dresser a few problems first thing but by late morning it had disappeared. I've had a luxury day today as I've not been outside and have spent the day pottering in my craft room. I still think someone is moving the hands round on the clock when I'm not looking ! I can't believe how fast today has gone. I didn't get anywhere near as much done as I wanted as I kept getting sidetracked !

Green card !

This is my card for the following challenges :

The three papers I've used are all from the Bloom 'n' Grow My Minds Eye paper set, you can't see the one beneath the horizontal ribbon, but honest it's different to the others ! The edge punch is by Fiskars and I've sponged some Shabby Shutters Distress ink over the edge. I used Labels One Nestabilities and sponged Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint over it before removing the die. The flowers are a Sizzix Bigz die and I've rubbed Peeled Paint over the edge of the petals.

The charm is one from a pack I picked up from one of those cheap book shops. The sentiment is done on the PC and I've sponged more Distress ink around the edge before removing the circle Nestability die. The pearl is coloured with the Moss Pro Marker.
Well I managed to get home before the alleged snow hits us again, and in the light ! It was even light when I was driving to work this morning, which makes me feel so much better. Apparently, it's going to be really cold over the week end, so stay warm everyone !

Cupcake sketch

This is my card for the following challenges

The paper is My Minds Eye and I've sponged Aged Mahogany Distress ink around the edge. The card has been embossed with the Victoria embossing folder then I sanded it, which didn't quite work out as the card wasn't white underneath ! The cupcake stamp is a Craft UK stamp which I've stamped with black Memento ink and shaded with Pro Markers. I've used a white Inkssentials pen to highlight the heart. The sentiment is from a Papermania stamp set which I've sponged Aged Mahogany around the edge of.

The flower is an EK punch and the buttons and ribbon are from my stash.
Well would you believe it, it's snowing again ! Hopefully it won't be too much, though it has settled on the roads. At least it's Friday tomorrow then I don't have to go out in it for a couple of days.

Simple Flower

This is my card for the following challenges :

I started by sponging Antique Linen and Scattered Straw Distress inks around the edge of the background paper, which is My Minds Eye. I then stamped the swirl in Scattered Straw over the corner, which is a Crafty Individuals stamp. The three flowers are from the My Minds Eye Bloom 'n' Grow stamp set. The tags were cut out with my Cricut and the top tag has been inked with Antique Linen Distress ink and the leaves stamped over it in Scattered straw. The main flower is from an Inkadinkado stamp set, stamped in black Archival ink and a pearl coloured with a peel off pen in the centre.

The edge punch is Martha Stewart and the ribbon has been stapled to the tag and I've coloured the staple with a Pro Marker.
Even though I'm supposed to be dieting you can't have pancake day and not have a pancake ! I only had one though....lol......

Acetate butterfly and tickets !

First things first, when I opened the mail tonight these 2 tickets fell out ! I don't remember entering a competition for them but I seem to have won ! Now unfortunately I won't be able to make use of these tickets so if there is any one who would like them I will give them away on a first come first served basis. The event is on the 26 - 28 February in Farnborough.

This is my card for the following challenges :

I started by inking a piece of white card with Adirondack Sandal ink then I stamped the paisley stamp from the Papermania set of stamps that I've not used before. I've had them for well over 12 months, I think they were a free gift with something, so thought I would give them their first outing. The border stamp and the flower stamp on the centre piece are also from the same set of stamps. I inked a piece of white card with Spiced Marmalade for the border pieces and with Dried Marigold for the centre, Distress inks. I've used Labels 6 to cut out the centre pieces.

The paper is My Minds eye and the butterfly, again from the same set of stamps, has been stamped onto acetate and stuck along the centre. The border punch is a Martha Stewart. The sentiment was stamped with Timber Brown Stazon and cut out with the same Labels die and I've sponged Dried Marigold around the edge before removing the die.

Well that's Monday over with, roll on Friday !

Another one for Mum !

As you've probably gathered I don't do cute very often, it's just not my thing. But as I'm getting some cards together for a stall at work I thought I ought to break the mould and do something that I would class as cute. So here she is ! This little girl is from Mo Manning's digital shop and she's called Shanna. This card is also for the following challenges :

I've shaded the image using Pro Markers and cut her out with a rectangle Nestability and sponged Weathered Wood and Faded Jeans Distress ink around her before removing the die. I then mounted her on navy card cut out with the scalloped rectangle Nestability. The background is the Cuttlebug embossing folder Stylised Flowers and I've rubbed Dried Marigold over the top piece and then Spiced Marmalade Distress ink over the bottom piece.

The word Mum has been stamped with my Habico alphabet set of stamps using Stazon Midnight Blue and I've cut it out with a Fancy Tag and sponged some more Distress ink around the edge before removing the die. The pearls in the centre of the flowers have been coloured with a peel off pen.
Well today didn't quite work out as planned, I was hoping to get a little more time in my craft room, but after we'd been out for a walk then my Mum came round for a visit most of the day had passed me by. At least I've got one more card for my stall !

Monday Mojo 125

This is my card for the following challenges :

I started by stamping my new Stampin' Up background stamp called En Francais, in Sepia Archival ink then I sponged some Distress inks in Antique Linen and Tea Dye around the edge. I stamped the swirl, which is a Crafty Individual stamp, in Vintage Photo and also the swirl below the bow. The little pink flowers are stamped with Worn Lipstick and the stamp is from a Rubber Stamp Tapestry set. I borrowed a bowl from the kitchen and drew round it with an embossing tool and then cut the curved shape. The main image is from a Tanda Stamps set called Retro Women. I've stamped her with Archival Sepia ink and sponged Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress inks around the edge before removing the circle Nestability. The sentiment is stamped in Blazing Red Stazon ink and cut out with Labels One Nestabilities, and I've sponged more Distress inks around the edge before removing the die.

The background paper is My Minds Eye and I've stitched around the edge as I felt it needed a little something more. The pearls are coloured with a brown peel off pen.
We headed off to the Paper Mill shop, this morning, which is about a 50 minute drive from us only to find that it's closing down and that the shop was just about empty ! I was gutted ! I've been getting all my white linen card from there for ages so I shall have to look for a new source. Don't you just hate it when that happens !

Monochrome Rose

This is my card for the following challenges :

The background paper is Basic Grey, as is the sketch that I've used. The white squares have been embossed with the Victoria embossing folder in my Cuttlebug and I rubbed some Weathered Wood Distress ink over the top. The main image is from an Elusive Images stamp set and I've stamped it with Faded Jeans Distress ink, then cut it out with a Deckle Edged Nestability. I sponged some Weathered Wood around the edge before removing the die.

The border punch is by Martha Stewart and the swirl is a Sizzlet. The word Mum has been stamped using a Habico alphabet set and the Lots of Love sentiment is from a free set of stamps that came with the Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.

Well we've seen more snow today, in fact it's white over again. My neck has eased a little today, but it's still really sore. I could just do with one of those massages that you can have at these spa places. Oh well dream on..........lol......!

More hearts !

You've probably gathered by now that I'm making rather alot of cards for Mother's Day....lol....! The reason being that, I'm going to be doing a stall with my friend at work so need to gather some stock rather quickly ! I'm putting this card in for the Die Cut Dreams challenge which is Have a Heart. I started by cutting hte hearts out on my Cricut machine, then I silver embossed the swirl which is a Crafty Individuals stamp. I sponged some Brilliance ink around the edge and stamped the sentiment in the centre. The background heart has been put through my Cuttlebug using the Victoria embossing folder. I sprayed the top heart with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist to add a little sparkle.

The die cut swirl is a Sizzix Bigz die and the background paper is My Minds Eye. This is quite a simple card, and at one point I wasn't sure if I would carry on with it, but I was quite pleased with the end result.
I woke up with a really stiff neck this morning and it's gradually got worse throughout the day. Fortunately, I'd made this card yesterday as I've not been able to sit for very long tonight. Everything's crossed that it will have eased up in the morning !

Cheers !

I've made this card for my other half's brother as it's his birthday on Wednesday of this week. I used the sketch from Cards for Men, I've swapped the circle for the oblong (hope I'm forgiven!) and I'm also putting it in for the Cute Card Thursday challenge which is spots and dots. I stamped the main image, which is a Personal Impressions stamp, with black Memento ink then shaded it with Pro Markers. I then cut it out with deckle edged Nestabilities and sponged Distress inks around the edge before removing the die. The centre strip is brown Bazill card that I've put through my Cuttlebug using the Distressed Stripes embossing folder.

The spotty background is a piece of white card that I've embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder then I've rubbed Vintage Photo Distress ink over the top. The paper is Basic Grey and the sentiment is from a Papermania set of stamps.
I'm a little ahead of myself tonight so I think I'm going to sit down and watch Wild at Heart that I recorded last night. The story line is a bit weak but I love to see the scenery, and it's always sunny !

Buttons and bows

This is my card for the following challenges :

The background was stamped with Versamagic inks using the flower stamps from the My Minds Eye Bloom 'n' Grow stamp set. I then sponged some Brilliance ink around the edge. I used the Diamonds and Dots Quickutz embossing folder and rubbed Pearlescent Purple Brilliance ink on the inside of the folder so that the card wasn't totally white. The border stamp is also from the Bloom 'n' Grow stamp set stamped with Versamagic ink. The edge punch is by Martha Stewart.

I didn't have any buttons of the right colour so I used Currant Alcohol ink to colour some blue buttons, and added them to the centre of the flowers. The leaf punch is also a Martha Stewart. The vase and flowers are from the Rubber Stamp Tapestry set Yumys Garden. I cut it out with a scalloped circle Nestability and sponged some more Brilliance ink around the edge before removing the die.
We managed to go out for a walk this morning, it did rain on us a little, but it felt so good to be out in the fresh air. On our way home I bought myself a new chair for my craft room, so I won't sink to the floor now when I sit down....luxury.. !

Hearts Galore !

When I started this card I had no idea of how many challenges it would fit with ! I knew I needed to make a Valentine's card for my other half and really liked the sketch at A Spoon Full of Sugar. So that's where I started then discovered that it would fit with quite a few more challenges. So I hope you're sitting comfortably.....lol.....:

I started by using my new Stampin' Up background stamp called En Francais, which I've stamped with black Stazon. I've then sponged Smokey Grey Versafine ink over it and also Fired Brick Distress ink. I've mounted this onto Swiss Dots Bazill card which I've distressed with my scissors then mounted on to black card stock. The hearts are cut out using my Cricut machine and I've rubbed Archival black ink around the edge of the red card then used my Mum's sewing machine (I don't know what I'm going to do when she asks for it back!). I've used a Martha Stewart edge punch, but you can't see much of it, on the piece across the card. The main image is a stamp that I won in a prize drawer and I think it's by Crafty Individuals, but don't hold me to that. I stamped it twice and cut the heart out, watercoloured it with my watercolour pencils and mounted it on foam pads.

The sentiment was done on my PC and cut out using circle Nestabilities. I've rubbed some more black ink around the circle so it didn't look too clean ! The little heart is from a Polka Doodle set of stamps, which are also new as I won them from Creative Card Crew.
I've had a lovely afternoon in my craft room which has been long overdue. I don't like January and I'm glad that we're through it and can look forward to lighter nights and the Spring. I don't know if there are any Six Nations rugby fans out there but at the moment I've got ear plugs in as I don't think England are playing very well, if the shouting is anything to go by....lol......

Just a quickie !

This is a really quick card and apologies for the photograph it's come out a little lopsided ! I'm putting this card in for the Daring Cardmakers challenge this week which is Amethyst. The main image is the free stamp that came with the Craft Stamper magazine this month. I've stamped it with black Stazon onto lilac card, mounted it onto black card. I've then cut a piece of purple card, 8cm x 8cm, and then used a Martha Stewart punch on all four sides. I've used a piece of torn card and stamped over it straight onto the base card with a Stampin' Up background stamp called En Francais. I've then chalked over it and swiped a black ink pad across the unchalked side. The word is from a Rubbadubbado set that I've had for years.

I'm watching Silent Witness as I'm writing this so I'm going to sign off now and watch the end of it. It's the last one in the current series which is a great shame, it's the only programme that's worth watching at the moment !

Plus en Francais !

This is my card for the following challenges :

I sponged Vintage Photo Distress ink around the edge then stamped the Crafty Individual swirl in the same ink and also the butterfly which is from a Katzelkraft stamp set. The candles are from a Papermania duo which I stamped in Teal Stazon.

The sentiment is another stamp from my Stampin' Up sentiments set. I sponged some Distress ink around the edge before removing the die. The paper is Basic Grey, the brads are from my stash and the edge punch is a Martha Stewart.
We went out for a meal last night, which was a fab way to start the week. I just wish we could do it every week !
