ArtsyCraft week end sneaky peek !

I thought I'd show you a bit of what I was doing last week end when I was at one of the Artsy Craft week end events. This was the main project and took the whole week end to complete in between a couple of smaller projects. The different techniques included metal embossing, embossing and using distress ink, stamping, painting and distressing metal. The rose is made from metal using a PaperArtsy die and I've then distressed it with acrylic paint and some metallic paint.

The dragonfly was a PaperArtsy die which we used to cut the shape from metal and then add the detail.

This square was created using Terra which is a textured substance and when heated to a high temperature it bubbles. What we did to create the square was to paint a thin layer of Terra on the chipboard square dry it with a heat gun and then add a second thicker layer and heat it until it bubbled and then while it's still hot scrape the top layer off. It leaves you with a lovely rough texture and Distress Ink was then added.

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the week end, it's so great being in a room full of crafters plus getting extremely messy with ink and paint is my idea of heaven !

What no Nesties ??

Can you believe it, not a Nestie in sight ! I've got so used to reaching for a set of Nesties when I make a card that it made a change to give them a night off ! I'm putting this card in for the following challenges :

All of the stamps I've used are from my new stash of Paper Artsy stamps. Do you ever get those moments when you just don't know where to start and you've got a pile of new goodies sitting in front of you ? Well I had one of those moments tonight, I almost got up and walked out of my craft room !

I started by cutting the pieces of card to make the background and then blended Antique Linen and Scattered Straw Distress inks around all of them. Then I used Weathered Wood, Broken China and Faded Denim. I stamped the background pieces with Archival Sepia ink and the embossed piece is made using the Distressed Stripes EF.

The main image was stamped using black Acrchival ink and I've distressed all of the edges. I've added some linen thread and buttons for interest (I really do need to go shopping for some more embellishments!)

Great to get all inky again tonight, thank goodness it all comes off in the shower !

The image I've used is the Vintage Bonnet from Digi Doodles Shop Best. I've cut it out with an oval Deckle edged Nestability and used some Antique Linen and Scattered Straw Distress inks around the edge. The papers are My Minds Eye and I've punched the flowers from the same papers. The swirl is a Tim Holtz Sizzix die which I've rubbed Corduroy Distress ink over.

The sentiment is from a Papermania set and I've cut it out with a Fancy Tag and rubbed more Distress ink over the top before removing the die.

I hope you get chance to join us this week and I look forward to visiting you !

ABC GDT spot !

I was lucky enough to win a 2 week GDT spot over on ABC challenge and this week's challenge is 'V' for Vintage. The challenge is being sponsored by the shop of Tickled Pink Stamps. She is offering the prize of a choice of one Lil Lolita Stamp, to one lucky entry.

The main image is a PaperArtsy stamp which I've stamped on to some card that I've blended Distress Ink over. I've then cut it out with a Deckle edged Nestability and used Corduroy Distress ink around the edge and mounted it onto brown card and used deckle edged scissors to cut round the edges. The stamped background panel has been made using some more PaperArtsy stamps (you've probably guessed I've got some new stash!). I've used more Distress inks around the edge of the panel. The paper is Stampin' Up which I've distressed too.

The star is stamped and then cut out and the corner embellisment is from my stash (sorry I don't know where I bought them from!).

I'm also putting this card in for the sketch challenge over on Mojo Monday.

You will definitely be seeing some more PaperArtsy stamps as I seem to have bought one or two sets !

Fab'n'Funky final GDT week !

It's my final week at GDT over on Fab 'n' Funky and this week's challenge is a sketch. The sponsor is Dustin Pike of Doodle Dragon Studio. The main image is a Dustin Pike image which I've shaded with ProMarkers and cut out with Labels 3 Nestabilities. The papers are Stampin' Up and I've distressed the edges and used Distress Inks to make it just that little bit more grungy ! I've added some faux stitching around the edge and the border punch is a Martha Stewart.

The flower is a Sizzix Bigz die and the sentiment is a Papermania stamp.

I can't believe how cold it's gone today ! I'm really hoping that the sun decides to show it's face again....and soon !

Isabella's Sketchbook challenge 9

The challenge this week at Isabella's Sketchbook is to do something in the colours of our country (in my case, red, white and blue) with a Memorial Day theme.

In the United States, Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer so that usually brings to mind picnics, going to the beach, relaxing with family and friends or spending time in the garden. The actual meaning behind the day is for remembering those who lost their lives in service of their country. As we don't celebrate this day here in the UK, I decided to go along the memory theme and the summer theme.

I'm also putting this card in for the Friday Sketchers challenge too.

I've shaded the image with ProMarkers and cut it out with Labels 3 Nestabilities. The papers are Basic Grey and the flowers are punched from the same, using up some small scraps.

The sentiment is from the Bloom 'n' Grow stamp set by My Minds Eye. The edge punch is a Martha Stewart and the gorgeous swirl is one of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix dies (I really love this die so you may be seeing quite alot of it !). This is quite a simple card for me, but time was short but I was fairly pleased with the end result.

Hope you manage to join in with us at Isabella's this week.

The challenge is being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp and the prize is a $15 spending spree. I'm also putting this card in for the below challenges :

The main image is another fabulous one from Mo Manning, I just thought it was so apt as I spend alot of time with my lap top on my knee ! I've cut the main image out with Deckle Edged Nestabilites then blended Pumice and Weathered Wood Distress Inks around the edge. The background papers are Basic Grey and Stampin' Up.

The main flower is an EK Success punch and I've used a Martha Stewart edge punch on the petals. The 'loopy' edge punch is also a Martha Stewart. The sentiment is a rub on. I think this image goes into my top 10 !

This is my GDT card for the Fab'n'Funky challenge this week which again is to make your own embellishments. The challenge is being sponsored by Sweet and Sassy designs and the prize is a $10 dollar voucher to spend in their digi shop. I've shaded the image, which is from Sweet and Sassy, with ProMarkers and then cut it out with Labels 9 Nestabilities and blended Antique Linen and Scattered Straw Distress Inks around the edge. The top part of the background is made with Distress Inks Bundled Sage and Forest Moss. I've then stamped the images from an Elusive Images set, with Archival black ink. The dragonfly is a free stamp from an edition of Craft Stamper and I've also used it to stamp onto shrink plastic to make 2 small dragonflies for the water lily.

The word is from a Stampin' Up set and the paper is Basic Grey. I've used the same punch as the card above to make the flower and punched the petals with the same Martha Stewart edge punch.

Well it's been a really warm day here today and we're being promised that it's going to get warmer ! I think we will be dusting of the bbq soon ! Hope you're enjoying the good weather while it lasts !

Isabella's Sketchbook challenge

Another week has whizzed by and it's time for another challenge over on Isabella's Sketchbook. The challenge this week is to make a birthday card, so nice and simple ! The Isabella image I've used is called Chocolate and Coffee. I'm also putting this card in for the Friday Sketchers challenge and for the Charisma Cardz challenge to use food and drink on your card. I've gone for a change with this image and painted it with Distress Inks, it's not as good as I'd hoped, but as they say practice makes perfect ! I've cut around it using Deckle Edged scissors. I've used the textile embossing folder and then blended Spun Sugar and Corduroy Distress Inks around the edge. The paper is Basic Grey and the background is white cardstock that I've blended Spun Sugar over and then stamped the swirl from the Baroque Motifs set from Stampin' Up in Worn Lipstick.

I've added some stitching around the edge for some detail.

Hope you can join us this week and I look forward to visiting you !

Another one for the boys !

I don't know why but I'm having a bit of run on cards for men ! I'm putting this card in for the following challenges :

I've torn the edges and then blended Weathered Wood and Faded Denim Distress Inks around the edge. The edge punch is from Stampin' Up and the background papers are K&Co. I've distressed the edges of the paper and then blended Corduroy Distress Ink around the edges.

The tag is a Quickutz die and I've blended Corduroy Distress Ink over it and then stamped the sentiment, which is from a Personal Impressions set of stamps. The border down the side of the card is a Martha Stewart punch.

One for the boys !

This is my card for the following challenges :

I started by using Distress Ink on white card and blending together Pumice, Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans and Corduroy. I stamped the main image, which is from a Darkroom Door stamp set, in Faded Jeans. The horizontal piece has had the same inks blended over it and then I've used a Stampin' Up punch down one edge and stamps from the Darkroom Door set.

The background paper is from a K&Co pad and I've distressed it around the edge and blended Vintage Photo Distress ink around the edge. The brad is a gorgeous velvet one from a Laura Ashley set, I've rubbed Vintage Photo around the edge.

We've had a beautiful day today, it's been so nice to see the sun ! We actually got up early and went a walk around a local nature reserve, it was lovely listening to the birds and not a soul in sight ! Hope you've had a good day too !

Catching up 2 challenges - one post !

I'm on catch up tonight as I've been away on a course for the past 2 days, it's amazing how such a short space of time can cause chaos !

So first of all, it's time for the I ♥ ProMarkers challenge which this week is a sketch and is being sponsored by Pollycraft. The prize is a lovely set of digi images which have only just been released !

I used a Lilybean image from Pollycraft called Clover - I believe. I shaded the image with ProMarkers and then stamped down one side with a Katzelkraft stamp, the butterfly is also from the same set. I used a white Inkssentials pen to add some detail to the butterfly. I cut the image out using Labels 8 Nestabilities and blended some Crushed Olive Distress Ink around the edge. The papers are Stampin' Up and I've distressed them around edges.

The word is from a Rubbadubbado stamp set and is cut out with a Fancy Tag. I've done 2 cross stitches top and bottom with tapestry thread.

This card is for my GDT spot over on Fab'n'Funky challenge blog. The challenge this week is called Metal Mania and is sponsored by Di's Digi Downloads. You can use whatever metal item you like eg. a charm, paper clip or even coloured with metallic paint !

I'm also entering this card for the Allsorts challenge which is a sketch. The main image is a Crafty Individuals stamp (which is one of my favourites!) and I've blended Weathered Wood and Faded Jeans Distress Inks around the edge. The paper is Stampin' Up as is the blue card.

The metal frame is from my stash and the stamped words are a Stampin' Up set that I ordered in French. The edge punch is a Martha Stewart. I've added a little faux stitching for added interest and the pearls have been coloured with my Duck Egg ProMarker.

Phew...now that's done I'd better take a look at my emails !

Isabella's Sketchbook Challenge

Well it's that time again for another Isabella's Sketchbook challenge. The challenge this week is to use the colours from Isabella's header on the challenge blog. The prize is 2 of Isabella's fabulous images and of course the winners badge !

I've used the fab sketch over on Sketch Saturday for my card. I've shaded my image with ProMarkers then decided it was little too dark so used some bleach to lighten the grapes up a little. I've used Distress Inks to paint around the image. The border is cut using a Tim Holtz Sizzix die. The background is a Stampin' Up stamp, stamped in Stazon Royal Purple then I've blended Crushed Olive Distress Ink over it. The very background paper is from a pad of Papermania paper that I spotted in the village craft shop.

The flowers are from a lovely package of blog candy that I won and I've used Eggplant Adirondack ink and grunged them up a little. The sentiment is also a Stampin' Up stamp.

I hope you can join us this week and do make sure you hop over and check out the other fantastic DT creations.

Distressed Anniversary !

This is my card for the following challenges :

This is quite a simple card as I've not had much time over the week end and I'm away on a course for the next couple of days. The paper is Stampin' Up and I've used Worn Lipstick and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks around the edge of the layered pieces. The hearts are a Martha Stewart punch which I won in some blog candy....cool heh ! I've blended Distress Inks around the edge of the hearts and used some tapestry thread to sew around the edges. I've mounted them onto a circle cut with Nestabilities and blended with Distress Inks. This in turn is mounted onto a Labels 3 layer which I've stamped with a background stamp from Stampin' Up called En Francais, stamped in Worn Lipstick Distress Ink then blended Brushed Corduroy around the edge.

The lace is from my stash and I've had it ages and never really found the right project for it, but when I looked at the list of anniversaries it was perfect !

Right best go and pack now, hope you all have a good start to your week !

Monochrome Magician !

This is my card for the following challenges:

The main image is a TandaStamps stamp that I've stamped with black Memento ink and shaded with ProMarkers. The checked pieces are also made with ProMarkers and I've blended Slate Adirondack ink around them and the main image, which is cut out with Labels 4 Nestabilities. The background is white cardstock which I've blended Slate Adirondack over and then stamped the Crafty Individuals swirl with the same ink.

The sentiment is from another TandaStamps set. The largest star is an EK Success flower punch and I've cut off the curved edges to turn it into a star. The two smaller stars were cut on my Cricut machine. I've blended Slate ink over the stars then drawn the swirls and highlighted them with a white Inkssentials pen. I've added some gems to the cloak and a dot of white Liquid Pearls to the top of the staff.

Right just time to watch an epsiode of Stargate Atlantis !

I'm also putting this card in for the challenge over on Sketch Saturday. The image I've used is from SoftPencil and I've painted it with Distress Inks. I've cut it out with a deckle edged oval Nestability and cut around some of the leaves so that they were outside the die. The embossed panels are made using the Fleur de Lys Cuttlebug EF and then I've rubbed Forest Moss and Bundled Sage Distress Inks over the top. The background is made from white card with Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks and I've then stamped with Spun Sugar an Elusive Images stamp (I think you can just about see it on the photo).
