The Stamp Man - Oriental

It;s time for another challenge over at The Stamp Man, and this time we would like to see you going Oriental ! The prize is a £10 voucher to spend at The Stamp Man.


For my card I used Non-Sequitor stamps and I stamped with Archival black ink onto card stock that I'd treated to Barn Door and Spiced Marmalade DI. I cut the main image out using Labels 3 Nestabilities and mounted it onto black card.

The background was created in the same way as was the side panel. The tassel is from my stash and I've used some Oriental coins & Charms. This was quite a simple card in the end and another first for me as I've never been attracted to using oriental stamps before, but this worked out quite well ! I'm also going to enter this card into the Daring Card Makers challenge which is something with an Oriental feel to it.

A Golden Wedding

This is a card I've made for an order for.....yes you guessed it a Golden Wedding Anniversary. I have to admit that anything that has the word 'wedding' in it has me running for cover so I always find these sorts of cards a struggle. Anyway, after a hunt through boxes of stamps I eventually found the one I was looking for which is an Inkadinkado stamp. It's not had an airing in quite a while so it was good to make something with it. I stamped the main image with black Memento ink then I shaded the image with Pro-Markers. I cut it out using Labels 17 Nestabilites and used Antique Linen, Scattered Straw and Tea Dye DI around the edge. The year was printed on my PC then cut out with the same Nestability. The embossed panel was made using the Victoria Cuttlebug EF and I've blended Antique Linen and Scattered Straw DI over the top. The side panel is K&CO paper and the background paper is Basic Grey.



I've used a Tim Holtz die for the swirl and the main sentiment was done on my PC and cut out with nesties and give the DI treatment tool.



The flower is made using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Sizzix die and I've used tissue paper then inked it with Scattered Straw and Tea Dye DI. The centre flower is also from the same die but I've cut it from a scrap piece of hem binding I had lying around and popped a gold brad in the centre.

Well that's that 'W' card done, I can move onto more pleasurable projects now ! I have to say I've been rather spoilt today as I've been at home all day and done exactly what I liked ! I've had to do some studying, but I've coupled that with some time in my craft room so can't be bad !

ABC Challenge 'M'......is for ..

It's time for another challenge over on at the ABC Challenge and this time we would like to see 'M' is for Magical ! The sponsor for this challenge is Pollycraft, check out the fab prize here. We have another sketch for you too, but we've decided to make that optional.

For my card I've used my favourite magical stamp which is from a Tanda Stamp set that I've had for years. I decided to go monochromatic and shaded him with Ice Grey ProMarkers.


The papers are from a Papermania set and I've used Slate Adirondack ink for the background piece and stamped using the Polka Dot background stamp by Stampin' Up.



The sentiment is by Elusive Images, I bought it from their shop literally days before it closed ! I've used Labels 16 Nestabilites and blended Slate Adirondack ink over that too. The stars are made from a flower punch and I've just cut the rounded edges off and the edge punch is a Martha Stewart.

Wet day birthday card !

What a miserable day today has been, talk about wet and grey ! But, on the other hand what a perfect day for spending in my craft room ! I made sure I was on top of things yesterday so that today was going to be a totally craft day.
I've made this card for my best friend's birthday, which is on Friday of this week. She's a real chocoholic so I thought this gorgeous Tim Holtz stamp would fit the bill nicely. I've stamped it onto this gorgeous Prima paper, which I've also stamped onto with a Katzelkraft stamp. I've mounted it onto a piece of card that I've used Shabby Shutters DI and then stamped with the text stamp from the same Tim Holtz set. I've cut it out with Labels 14 Nestabilites. The larger shape has been made with Victorian Velvet DI and then I've stamped the Katzelkraft swirl in Shabby Shutters DI and cut it out with Labels 14 Nestabilities.


The circle is cut out using a circle Nestability and it is the reverse of the Prima paper. The ticket is a freebie stamp that came with a Craft Stamper magazine ages ago and the swirl is a Tim Holtz die.


The flower is made with Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die, Stampin' Up En Francais background stamp and the centre flower is a Katzelkraft stamp.

The Stamp Man Challenge

It's time for another challenge over at The Stamp Man and this time we would like you to get 'distressed'.....well not literally, but we would like to see lots of distressing on your projects. Don't forget that the winner of the challenge gets a £10 voucher to spend in The Stamp Man shop !


So, on to my card, I used the Aspects of Design, Classical Instruments stamp set (these stamps are gorgeous!). I started by using a combination of Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain DI on a piece of white card. I then stamped the guitar with black Archival ink, and also stamped the sentiment with the same ink. The background pieces were made using a Tim Holtz mask called Concerto. I blended various DI over the mask, and made a separate piece for the clef.

The paper is from the Tim Holtz Lost & Found collection ( I love these papers !) and the charm is from my stash and I treated it to some Espresso Alchol Ink. I was wanting something else to add to this card but I couldn't put my finger on it so left it as it was, but I still feel it's missing something.

Happy Birthday Rob !

I made this card for my brother in law's birthday, which was on Thursday. He's into birdwatching so I decided to go with that theme and see where it led me. I started by embossing a piece of card with a Quickutz embossing folder then I cut out the diamond shapes to leave me with a stencil. I masked off part of the stencil and sponged Brushed Corduroy DI over it. I used Tumbled Glass and Broken China DI around the edges. The stamps I've used are a mixture of Elusive Images and PaperArtsy. The bird was stamped onto card that had DI blended over it and then cut out.



The swirl is a Tim Holtz die and I've used Copper EP and done 2 layers and while the second layer was still warm I've stamped into it with a Paper Artsy stamp to give it some texture.

Well after a very rainy night we've got blue skies and sun, which is lovely to see but it is very cold ! I don't think I'll be venturing far today !

ABC Challenge ...L is for ....

It's time for the first challenge of 2011 for ABC Challenge ! The challenge this time round is 'L' is for Lace but with the added twist of a sketch. Going forward all of the challenges will have a fab sketch for you to follow as well as a letter of the alphabet challenge. The sponsor for this challenge is A Whiff of Joy. The inspiration for this card came from the yummy Tim Holtz paper that I've used. I love the blue and green combination, it did take me a while to pluck up courage to cut it up !



The main image is a Stampin' Up stamp and I've stamped it onto card that I've blended Dusty Concord, Milled Lavender, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint DI over. I've used the same colours for the sentiment and punched the butterflies from the scraps of card and paper.



The background piece of paper is Basic Grey and the greens went really well with the Tim Holtz paper. The lace is from my stash ( and is fast running out !)

The Stamp Man ATC swap

It's time for another ATC swap over at The Stamp Man and this time the theme we would like you to follow is Rhymes and Tales.

This is only the second ATC I've made, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it but it still feels odd working on such a small piece of card !


After racking my brains what I could do for this one, I settled on the The Queen of hearts who made some tarts ! I've used Tim Holtz's Mini Mask from the Regal set and blended Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet DI over the whole card. I then used the trumpet from the Classical Instruments by Aspects of Design and just used the swirls from the edge of the stamp.


The main image is another Aspects of Design stamp from the Alluring Ladies set. The little flower is made using the smallest flower on the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die and I've used Red Pepper alcohol ink to change the colour of the button (it was bright green to start with!). The lettering is done using an old set of alphabet stamps.
