Playing with Artistic Outpost !

I was very lucky to win over at Simons Says Stamp and Show so got to have a little spending spree in the online store, and the stamps I ordered arrived this week ! I've been itching to have a play since they turned up and when my other half asked if I could make a 60th Birthday card for a friend I knew which stamps I was going to head for !

I've had to do a small amount of tidying to make space for my new stamps and isn't it wonderful when you find something you didn't know you had ! I found an A4 sheet that I'd made using Moon Shadow ink and cling film, perfect for the background of this card. I also used a Creative Expressions mask with Tea Dye DI. The large text stamp is from the Ephemera Backgrounds stamp set, stamped with Coffee Archival ink. The main image is from the Diesel Punk stamp set, and I've stamped it onto card that's had Old Paper Distress Stains swiped over it. I cut it out using a deckled edge Nestability and then used Vintage Photo DI around the edge. The doily is made using the TH die and I've cut it from more of the card that had been coloured with Old Paper Distress Stains. The border along the bottom (which you can't actually see much of now!) is stamped in Coffee Archival ink and is from the Flapper Fashion stamp set.

The gorgeous material flower is from Linda's Funky Junkie Zibbet store and I've just brushed my blending foam over the top which I've used with Vintage Photo DI. The number 60 is also from the Diesel Punk set and Iv'e mounted it onto a punched circle that I've embossed using the Victoria EF. This is then mounted onto a TH Mini Labels die, which is also available at Linda's store. The little antique bronze flowers are again from Linda's store, and I stuck a brown pearl in the centre. The tattered banner is by Tim Holtz, which is also available from Linda's store.

Paris tag !

For my Katzelkraft DT project I've made a tag using the Musique, Paris Postal and Paris Monuments stamps sets.

I've been inspired by the Creative Chemistry lessons and so I got out a selection of Distress Ink colours and went to work on my tag. I then did the spritz and flick technique to create the droplet effect on the card. I stamped the images using black Archival ink and did some second generation stamping. I punched down the side of the tag with a Stampin' Up punch and stamped the word Paris onto a TH Tattered Banner.

The rosette is made from card that I also gave the Distress Ink treatment to and the lovely lacey ribbon is a recent purchase from the Malvern Craft Show, but I can't remember who makes it, sorry ! The coloured ribbon is seam binding that I've dyed with DI and spritzed with water, and the little keys have been tinted with some alcohol inks so they didn't look too clean !

I'm entering this tag in to the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge which is make a tag.

I would also like to welcome my new followers it's great to have you with me on my creative journey. I also hope to do more visiting in the near future, time just seems to slip through my fingers !

All of the stamps I've used are available exclusively from The Craft Barn in the UK and from Katzelkraft in France.

Launch day today !

Well the countdown is over and today is the launch of the brand new challenge Frilly and Funkie ! Make sure you hop over to the main blog and check out the rest of the DT's work. There will be a new challenge every other Wednesday and the first challenge is Your Favourite Vintage Style.

I bought this house before Christmas with the idea of making a Christmas decoration. Well, it didn't quite work out, so I thought the first challenge for Frilly & Funkie would be the ideal time to use it.I started by painting the house with Gesso then with blue acrylic paint. I used the crackle glaze by Paper Artsy then did a top coat of white acrylic paint. In the top part of the house I used the TH Doily die, then I added a filigree square, which I distressed with acrylic paint. The roses are made from the TH Tattered Florals cut from Crinoline. The letters are TH grunge board which again I've pained with acrylic paint, sanded them then coated them with Picket Fence Distress Stains.

I stamped the flowers on the side using black Archival ink and I painted them with acrylic paint. The birdcage is tipped with acrylic paint and I added the decoration, which is from an old bracelet. The word Secrets is from an Oxford Impressions stamp set and framed with a TH frame.

I cut a flower from corrugated cardboard and added a bottle cap to the centre. The screen that sits behind the dress form is stamped with Cobalt Archival ink using Katzelkraft stamps. The dress form has also been given the crackle glaze treatment too. The beautiful lace is from Linda's Zibbet Boutique, which you really need to check out. Especially as there's 10% off everything until the end of March ! The string detail is made from some string I rescued from a package at work and the button is from my stash.

The butterfly is cut from Sticky Back Canvas and is tipped with DI. The hearts are also cut from corrugated card board and a little venise lace applique added to the centre. The beautiful wooden flower button is also from Linda's Zibbet Boutique.

Items used on this project from The Funky Junkie Boutique can be found by clicking on the below links. New items are arriving all the time and the prices are very reasonable so make sure you check it out, espcially with the 10% discount until the end of March using the code MARCH10 !

Spring is in the air !

It's time for another challenge over at The Fashionable Stamping Challenge and as we all know, Spring is in the air, so that's what we'd like you to focus on this time. Check out the main blog for the other DT's fabulous creations and also the prize.

This was a card I made for my other half's Mum for Mother's Day last week end. I started with the background and blended Crushed Olive and Mustard Seed DI over white card stock. I then stamped the text from a Wendy Vecchi stamp set with Crushed Olive and also the small flower. I then used a mask and sponged Crushed Olive over it and finished by stamping another flower from a Wendy Vecchi stamp set in one corner. The two panels are made using the same Wendy Vecchi text stamp and for the top one I used the Paint Dabber resist technique. The tulip is also a Wendy Vecchi stamp and I stamped the flower head onto a piece of card that I'd blended Spiced Marmalade DI over and also used a mask with the same ink. The leaves are stamped onto card that had Crushed Olive blended over it and I've flicked some water to add some droplet marks.

The little tag is cut using my Quickutz and the word Mum is from a Dovecraft set. I've stamped around the edge of the tag with a Crafty Individuals stamp using some more Spiced Marmalade. The butterfly is cut from Grunge Paper that I've blended DI over and also stamped with the Wendy Vecchi text stamp. The ribbon is seam binding that I've dyed using Wild Honey Distress Stains.

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge.

Bingo at The Stamp Man !

It's time for another challenge over at The Stamp Man and this time we're playing Bingo ! Hop over to the main blog to check out what you need to do. For my card I chose the line of Swirls/Metal/Ribbon.

I started with the background and blended DI over white cardstock then used a mask and sponged more DI over the top. I then stamped the butterflies from the TH Papillon set with purple Stazon ink. I stamped the text onto Crinoline and then stuck it to card that I'd blended more DI over.

The butterfly is a TH die and the ribbon is seam binding that I've dyed using Dusty Concord Distress Stains. The swirls are cut using the TH Mini Flourish die. The metal flower is from my stash and was a little gift from the lovely Linda from her Zibbet Boutique.

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge.

All from one sheet !

I've made this card for a very special lady whose birthday is tomorrow. She's extremely busy setting up her own business so I know she won't have time to check here so I'm safe ! Do you ever find a technique and just can't get enough of it? Well, layering stamping and using masks is really holding my attention at the moment......so you may well see quite alot of it ....lol...

For this card I made a master sheet using Wendy Vecchi stamps and Oxford Impressions stamps with Distress Inks and a couple of masks. The main image is an Indigo Blu stamp, stamped onto a piece of the master sheet. The sentiment is cut out using a Nestability.

The ribbon is seam binding which I've dyed using Distress Re-inker which I've spritzed with water. The flower is made from Crinoline and I've rubbed DI over it. The butterfly is cut using the TH Mini Butterfly die and the swirl is cut using the TH Mini Flourish die. I've cut one of them from some packaging and then coloured it with Alcohol inks. The Crinoline, seam binding and the gorgeous filigree metal corner are all from the lovely Linda's Zibbet Boutique.

It's a kinda magic !

Sorry for the corney title but that tune's been playing in my head while I was making this card ! This card is for an order and to say it was a challenge, is putting it mildly ! I just couldn't think what to do, the request was a card for a magician ! But then I happened on some Woodware playing card stamps and it all started to fall into place !

I started with the background and blended Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick DI over some white cardstock. Then I stamped the playing cards randomly and the word 'magic' which is from a Tim Holtz stamp in the Good Thoughts set. I masked off the rest of the stamp so I could just use the one word. Then I used a mask from the Mini Regal set. The playging cards were all stamped with black Archival ink and for the Queen and the Ace I painted the symbols with Fired Brick Distress Stains. The top hat was the biggest challenge as I knew what I wanted but couldn't find it anywhere ! So I looked at lots of images on the internet then I drew my own, scanned it and printed it out. It's a little shaky, but after I'd shaded it with Pro Markers I decided it would be OK. I cut it out with a Nestability and blended some Spiced Marmalade DI around the edge.

Then I hand drew a large star and cut it out of card, blended DI over it then used a mask and sponged Festive Berries DI over it. I mounted the top hat onto foam pads to leave room for the Happy Birthday tag.

The border is made using the little playing card symbols from the Woodware stamp set and the punched border is made using a Martha Stewart punch. The name is done on my PC. I really hope that the person who ordered this card likes it, I really enjoyed making it in the end !

This one's for Mum !

For my Katzelkraft DT project I've taken the opportunity to make a card for Mother's Day as it is fast approaching ! Apologies for only one photo but for some reason the other one I took wouldn't load, not sure if it's blogger or my lap top !

The stamps I've used are Les Partoches d'Onirie and Mode. I've stamped the background with the text stamp then the next layer has been stamped with the music stamp but I've masked off part of the area. On top of the music I've used a mask and Dusty Concord DI and torn the layer in parts to reveal the text below. The main image has been stamped with black Archival Ink and then cut out using the Fleur de Lys Nestability. The hat was slightly larger than the die so I used the outside the frame technique. The flower is cut from Crinoline which has been coloured with Distress Stains and Distress Inks and the brad is a Marah Johnson. The ribbon across the centre is seam binding that has been coloured with Dusty Concord Distress Stains and I sprayed it with water to make the colour a little less dense.

All of the stamps I've used are available from The Craft Barn in the UK or from Katzelkraft in France.

Another pair of shoes !

Well that's Monday over with, it's been a beautiful day and I am loving the light nights ! The card I'm sharing with you today is an order for an A5 Good Luck card.

The brief was to include shoes and handbags and can you believe it I don't own a a handbag stamp ! So, I've had to improvise and use a topper from the bottom of a drawer ! I made the background using a selection of Tim Holtz, Katzelkraft and Tanda stamps. The text panel is made using the Stampin' Up En Francais stamp. The shoes are made using my Clarity shoe stamp, masking off the first one and stamping a second. They've been coloured with a Prisma Pencil and then I've added some Glossy Accents. The frame is made from thin chipboard, painted with acrylic paint then with Paper Artsy Crackle Glaze and then another coar of acrylic paint. The flower is made from grunge paper that I've stuck pieces from an old book to and then die cut using the Tattered Flowers die.

The little tag is a Quickutz die and the swirl is from the Elegant Flourishes die. The panel that the handbag is sitting on has also been cut from thin chipboard and given the Crackle Glaze treatment. I've done some faux stitching around the edge to bring it all together and the little charm is a TH Type Charm and I've punched a small circle of paper to fit it.

Bingo at Fashionable Stamping Challenge !

Happy Sunday everyone ! We've flown through another 2 weeks which means it's time for the next challenge at the Fashionable Stamping Challenge. This time round it's my turn to set the challenge and I chose bingo ! Below is the bingo card for you to use and all you have to do is pick a line either horizontally, vertically or diagonally and include those 3 elements on your project. Simple ! And remember we need to see some stamping on your project too !

For my card I chose the line ' Words - Distressing - Flowers'. I started with the background which is a technique I spotted in one of the 365Scrap magazines. You stamp onto a layer of cardstock then cover it with another layer but tear back a small piece of the top layer to reveal the text below. I used Katzelkraft stamps for the bottom layer and the top layer is stamped using the Stampin' Up En Francais stamp. The corner stamps are Crafty Individuals and I've used Antique Linen and Scatted Straw DI to distress it.

The horizontal piece is also stamped with a Crafty Individuals stamp and I've double stamped it so the second image is slightly lighter than the first. The border punch is a Martha Stewart and the lace is from the lovely Linda's Zibbet Boutique and I've coloured it using Antique Linen Distress Stains. The centre panel is made with Katzelkraft stamps and I've stamped off the first ink and used the second stamp so the images are paler. I then stamped the flower, which is also a Katzelkraft stamp, and water coloured it with Distress Stains. The frame is made using a Nestability and I've cut it from thin chipboard painted it with acrylic paint, then a layer of Paper Artsy Crackle Glaze then another layer of white acrylic paint. Have I mentioned I love this stuff !

The butterfly is made using the mini butterfly TH die and has been stamped with the En Francais stamp and some pearls added to the centre. The flower is made using the TH Tattered Flowers die and cut from Crinoline coloured with DI and the brad in the centre is a Marah Johnson that I've aged with Alcohol Inks.

I hope you get chance to join us in our Bingo challenge and look forward to seeing your projects !

Big Sis's birthday !

It's a lovely afternoon here today, I think that Spring is definitely just around the corner now......I can't wait ! So, onto the card I'm sharing with you today. It's my big sis's birthday tomorrow, I'm confident she won't look here, so I'm safe to show you !

I've been watching all the beautiful projects that the very talented Lin Brown has been creating lately and one of the things that's caught my eye is layering, either with stamps or stencilling. I started with the background and first of all I blended some DI over white card stock. Then I used a Creative Expressions mask called Circles and sponged Broken China DI over it. Then I used the circle stamp from the Oxford Impressions set called My Story, and stamped with Rusty Hinge DI. The sentiment is from an Elusive Images set stamped with black Archival ink. The main image is by Indigo Blu and I stamped it twice and then cut the centre section out and layered it with foam pads.

The butterflies are cut using the mini butterfly die by TH. For the one in the left hand corner I cut one from Grunge Paper and one from card. I used Distress Stains to colour them and then stamped over part of the card one using the Stampin' Up stamp called En Francais. The flower is made using the TH Tattered Flowers die cut from Crinoline, which you can buy from the lovely Linda's Zibbet Boutique. Then I used Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Stains to colour it and also the seam binding. The swirl is made with the mini flourish TH die, again coloured using Distress Stains. The word 'sister' is from a Dovecraft stamp set and the lovely brad is a Marah Johnson.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Hope you're all having a lovely week end.

Vintage at The Stamp Man

It's Friday and it's time for another challenge at The Stamp Man. This time we would like to see your Vintage projects and as usual for the winner there is a £10 voucher to spend in The Stamp Man online store.

I started with the background and stamped the dress form from the TH Haberdashery stamp set which I 'kissed' with one of the text stamps from the Reflections set. I then decided it looked a little bare on it's own so I stamped it again onto a Post It Note and masked off the original image. I then used another stamp from the same set and stamped over the masked off dress form. I used a page from an old book and distressed it with Tattered Rose, Tea Dye and Brushed Corduroy DI. I used the paint dabber resist technique and blended Tattered Rose DI over the top using a stamp from the French Marketplace set. The sentiment is from the TH Good Thoughts set and I've used 2 of the stamps from the Adverts set behind it.

I've used Crinoline for the flower which has been made using the TH Tattered Flowers Die and coloured with Distress Stains, the button is from my stash. I've stamped the spool and sewing book images onto Crinoline and done one or two cross stitches to hold them together.

I hope you get chanceo to join us for this challenge.

Red shoes !

I've got the luxury of a day's holiday today so I'm making the most of it and trying to get ahead with my card orders. The card I'm sharing with you is for my sister's boss who loves shoes, particularly red ones !

When I started to think about this card I knew that the one stamp I had to use is my trusty Clarity shoe stamp. I stamped it onto Kraft card stock, then onto a Post-it note and masked off the first shoe. I stamped it again while the first one was masked off and hey presto a pair of shoes ! I coloured them with Prisma pencils (not used these before and I'm not sure about them yet !) then covered parts of the shoes with Glossy Accents. The sentiment is from a Darkroom Door stamp set. I used the background stamp from the TH Papillon set and I used the script stamp from the TH French Marketplace set. I stamped with white Paint Dabber, dried it with my heat gun and then blended DI over the top. Used a damp piece of kitchen roll to rub over the top and the paint leaves a lovely resist effect. The left hand panel is made using a mix of TH, Katzelkraft and Tanda Stamps. The cage is a Poppy Die cut and I've just tipped it with a little Barn Door DI.

The flowers are cut from Crinoline using the TH Tattered Flowers die and coloured using Barn Door Distress Stain and DI. The ribbon is seam binding that I've dyed with Distress Stains too. A type charm, tag and a couple of tickets and that was it !

BiL Birthday!

I'm wading my way through birthday card orders at the moment, March is always busy especially with Mother's Day thrown in to boot ! You would think as this happens every year I would be more prepared....not a hope !

So, this is a card I've made for one of my Brother-in-law's. I started with the background and used a fab Katzelkraft brick stamp. I stamped with Versamark and the blended Pan Pastels over it. I love how Pan Pastels blend together so easily. The little horizontal strips have been embossed in the TH Collage EF and then I've used Walnut Stain DI direct to the card. The left hand panel has been stamped with another Katzelkraft stamp set called Alphabet Corrupt. I then put it through another TH embossing folder called Notebook. The main image is an Oxford Impressions stamp and I've cut it out using a Deckled Oval Nestability and mounted it on to a Labels 18 Nestability die cut.

The letter 'm' is from the TH Ideaology Grunge Board Alphabet Soup. It's been stuck to a piece of Grunge Board and then painted with black acrylic paint. When it was dry it's been sanded and then rubbed with Walnut Stain DI. The frame is cut using the TH Tag and Bookplate die. The swirl is cut using the TH Elegant Flourishes die and I've added an Ideaology Word Stick. The little tag is cut using my Quickutz and the Happy Birthday stamp is by Funstamps.

It's been a really miserable day here today, but I was secretly glad about this as it meant I could spend some, much needed, time in my craft room. Right, I'd better crack on with the rest of the birthday cards I need to make !

Katzelkraft tag

This is just a quick post today to share my Katzelkraft DT project for this week. I've not had a lot of time so a quick tag has had to fit the bill !

I've blended Wild Honey DI over the tag, that I cut using the TH die. The stamp sets I've used are Norris and JMC Voyage quotes, Transportation and Paris Postal.

The rosette is made using the TH rosette die and I've punched a circle from the same paper for the centre of the bottle cap. The swirl is made using the Mini Flourish die and to finish I've added a Type Charm

Sorry it's just a quickie, hopefully I'll have more time next week !

All of the stamps I've used are available exclusively from The Craft Barn in the UK and from Katzelkraft in France.
