Today is a special day as its my eldest niece's birthday.
Happy Birthday Nikola !
I am gradually getting through the birthday card list and today is another one ticked off !
I started by painting a piece of white card with Clear Gesso. Then I mixed Sage, Bora Bora and Snowflake Fresco Finish paints and brushed it over the card (I spotted this combination in one of the Craft Stamper magazines that the very talented Liz Borer had a project featured). Just before the paint had completely dried I used a baby wipe and due to the Gesso layer some of the paint wiped away. Love the distressed effect !
Apologies, I got carried away so didn't take any further step by step photos ! I used the Lin Brown 006 stencil with Snowflake Fresco Finish paint and once dry I then gave it a wash of the same combination I started with but with the addition of Hyde Park and South Pacific. I then stencilled again using the Lin Brown 004 stencil and then used the little script stamp from the Lynn Perella 014 and stamped it with Fresco Finish paint.
I then added some strips of Tissue Tape and the die cut the trellis using the Tim Holtz die. I painted the trellis using the same combination of paint that I did the wash with, decided it was too dark and then spritzed it with Picket Fence Spray Distress Stains. The main image is from the PaperArtsy Hotpicks 1303 set and is stamped onto a piece of Smoothy Card that was an offcut from the first step of the background. I used another offcut to add a thin strip between the trellis and the main image and I've stamped it with Fresco Finish paint using the Wendy Vecchi Lots of Leaves background stamp. The sentiment is also by Wendy Vecchi from the True Art set.
I'd got a small spray bottle that I'd put some Fresco Finish paint and water in but I'd no idea what the colour was, it looked about right but I added some Hyde Park to make it a little greener then sprayed the paper flowers. I dried them off then spritzed them with Picket Fence Spray Distress Stain. The metal filigree and the metal corner embelishments have been dabbed with Fresco Finish paint using Cut 'n' Dry foam.
I've broken the Christmas card drought and started to make some this weekend, quite relieved that I'm off the mark !
