Do something with a bag !

The current e-team Picks Challenge over at Eclectic Paperie is to 'do something with a bag' ! This could be any kind of bag you like from paper to leather ! I attended a Tim Holtz workshop a couple of years ago and as part of the kit there was a linen bag that all the embellishments for the workshop were in. I now use it to take with me to other workshops and put my paintbrushes etc in. So, I decided that this would be perfect to 'do something' to  for my DT project!

This is the bag in question, the pencil is there to give you some sort of sense of the size.

I decided that  I was going to keep the design quite simple, which for me was a huge challenge ! The new TCW stencil though is so beautiful, I really wanted to let it do the talking, so to speak ! I cut a piece of cardboard and slid it inside the bag to give me a better surface to stencil on and also to protect the other side of the bag from the paint. First of all I stencilled the flower with Snowflake Fresco Finish paint, as I was using translucent colours so wanted to ensure they would pop ! I started with Yellow Submarine, then Tango, Autumn Fire and Brown Shed for the flower. For the leaves I used Chartreuse and Hey Pesto. Drying the paint in between layers and then re-positioning the stencil to add the next one.

I used the same technique for the words too, which are from the same stencil. Building up the colours layer by layer making sure each one was dry.

I absolutely love the effect on the fabric and the colours are so vibrant too !

I used the last set of words from the stencil on the back of the bag, using the same techniques as the front.

The little butterfly is also from this stencil, I can see it getting used rather alot !

If you've got a bag that needs some love there's still time to join us for this challenge. You'll find all the details here.

Garden of hopes and dreams !

It's my turn to share a project over on the Country View Crafts Updates blog, so this is just a short post.

I've been playing with the new PaperArtsy stencils, paints and stamps but for all thedetails you'll need to hop over here.

Fantastic Day !

What a fantastic day I've had today with 6 very lovely ladies at Artist Trading Post in Wirksworth. Big thank you to Sharon for keeping us topped up with tea and coffee too !

This is the project that everyone was making in the workshop.

Everyone here is very busy creating the backgrounds for their project.

The ladies also got to grips with lots of Fresco Finish paint, I should have taken photo's of everyone's hands too !

It was definitely getting serious when everyone was on their feet !

Things are starting to come together now and everyone's projects are looking fabulous !

Here's Dianne's finished project using Lynne Perella stamps and also some of the new Fresco Finish colours.

Apologies to Gill as I've blurred this photo slightly ! Beautiful red and gold combo using more Lynne Perella stamps.

Linda mixed some Hot Picks stamps with Artistic Outpost and beautiful shades of purple Fresco Finish paints.

Ruth also used Lynne Perella stamps and some of the new Fresco Finish colours.

Sheila's eyes almost popped out of her head when she spied the new JOFY stamps ! Especially coupled with some of then new Fresco Finish colours.

Last but by no means least is Rose's beautiful project using the fabulous new  Fresco Finish cool blues and Lynne Perella stamps.

I think you'll agree that all the ladies did a fantasic job and I love the different colours and stamp combinations that everyone used.

Bloomin' Marvellous !

Hello ! Today I'm sharing my Frilly and Funkie DT project for the Funkie side of the team. The current challenge has been chosen by the lovely Jenny and is called Bloomin' Marvellous - flowers, lots of them, but they must be made by you (not bought/pre-made).

I had a fabulous day on Saturday as I attended the retail training day with PaperArtsy so I decided to use some of the fab new products on this piece. I covered a chipboard shape with some of the new Chatsworth paper and  gave it a coat of Glue 'n' Seal to protect it. I then used used one of the new Lin Brown stencils with Snowflake Fresco Finish. Once it was dry I brushed some Chartreuse and Autumn Fire Fresco Finish over the top.

I used one of the new JOFY stencils for the bullrushes and built the Fresco Finish colours up in layers, drying in between colours.

The stencilled leaves are done using the Wendy Vecchi From the Garden stencil and I've used the Wendy Vecchi Vintage Mesh  stamp with Tree Branch Archival ink. The die cut leaves are made using the Tim Holtz Garden Greens die and I've painted them with Fresco Finish paints. The sentiment is also by Wendy Vecchi and is from the Framed Art set. I've mounted it on some cardboard that I've painted with Chocolate Pudding Fresco Finish paint and then brushed some Treasure Gold around the edge of it.

For my flower instead of making lots I made one large one ! I covered some Grunge Paper with the paper from an old book and then I used one of the new Lin Brown stencils with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I used the largest flower from the Tattered Florals die to make the flower. To finish I brushed two pearl stick pins with Treasure Gold and I rubbed some around the edge of the board too.

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge, you've still got a week to go, and do make sure you hope over to the Frilly and Funkie blog to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous projects.

PaperArtsy Lynne Perella new release !

It's another exciting night tonight as it's the next new product release from PaperArtsy. This time the new products are by Lynne Perella, below are two of the sets that have been released that I've had chance to play with.

I used a grey board covered in white card for this sample. All the images are stamped onto Smoothy Heavy card that's been painted with Nougat Fresco Finish.

For this tag I've used a baby wipe with Fresco Finish paints to create the background. The images have all been stamped on Smooth Heavy card, again painted with Nougat.

I've used the same technique for the background on this large tag. I've used a small postage stamp die to cut out the small images. The gorgeous main stamp is again stamped onto Smoothy Heavy card painted with Nougat.

For my last sample I made a card and used a brayer to created the background, with lots of stencilling.

I used a stencil with some Grunge Paste to create the numbers and brushed Treasure Gold over the top. To see the rest of the new release and also the fabulous samples the other Guest Designers have made hop over to the PaperArtsy blog.

All the new Lynn Perella products will be available via your local stamp store in the coming weeks. New JOFY release from PaperArtsy !

This week is such an exciting week on the run up to the Stitches trade show as PaperArtsy are revealing their new products! Tonight it's the turn of the new JOFY stamps, stencils and limited edition Fresco Finish paint ! I've been very lucky and had the chance to play with some of the the new JOFY products. This is not my usual style at all but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself !

Aren't these new Fresco Finish colours yummy !

I've not made an ATC in absolutely ages so it was great fun to make this little project and the new JOFY mini's are perfect for them.

As the new JOFY Fresco Finish colours are opaque they're fantastic for using with the 'bumping' technique with the new stencils.

The new Chalk Fresco Finish is a fabulous colour to use as a background and of course stamping on to any of the Fresco paints works brilliantly !

This sample is a jumbo tag and the letters are all painted with the new Fresco Finish colours as are the flowers. The stencilling is done using the PS008 stencil and Amethyst Fresco Finish.

I painted this greyboard with Chalk Fresco Finish, then used the PS010 stencil using Dusty Teal. I then gave it a wash of watered down Chalk Fresco Finish so that it faded into the background a little.

I mixed some Dusty Teal with Grunge Paste and used the PS008 stencil for the words. I do love this colour and it will be in my 'favourites' definitely !

To see the rest of the new JOFY collection and what the rest of the Guest Designers have made hop over to the PaperArtsy blog.
